+1 for Wily Peralta

Better K/9, SO:BB than the older Jarrod Parker in the same league in 2011. Besides Matt Moore in his less than 20 starts, who was better in that league than Peralta?

Not a tough one here personally.

if you're looking at

only guys who had the same amount of batters faced, then only Chris Withrow had a better strikeout percentage

if you open it up a bit more though, and make it at least 150 batters faced, then you get guys like Paxton, Skaggs, Vizcaino, Fiers, Axelrod, Withrow and Hoover

a number of the guys listed above had lower walk rates than Peralta as well

though i mean, i agree i’d have Peralta higher than Kelly

I actually like Kelly here over Peralta

Kelly’s a few months younger, and their AA FIP was almost exactly the same. Peralta obviously struck out more guys, but Kelly showed a lot of improvement with his command and continuing to keep the ball down, and I like his upside to improve the K numbers. Peralta’s awesome #s in AAA do go in his favor, but it was only 30 innings or so.

oh yeah, kelly shouldn’t be up there in my opinion, not even the best padre pitching prospect still out there
