No kidding
At least they didn’t eschew high end talent & not altogether unsignable types in the first & select Chad Jenkins in that draft though, huh? Oh right..

TESTERS (New Ones Or Favorites From Current Tester Pool)
by auclairkeithbc on Nov 22, 2025 10:03 AM EST reply actions
Jed Bradley, Taylor Jungmann, Justin Nicolino
Bradfley is my fav of the testers, Jungmann deserves a look and, if Sydergaard is here, his teamate Nicolino should as well.
Nicolino was absolutely outstanding in the Northwest League.

yep
Jed Bradley would be my favorite of the testers too. 2nd would probably be Kelly.

I appologize
for not noticing Jungmann on the list already

Vote your heart
Don’t let me stop you but, James Paxcton is kinda cleartly better than Rob Erlin, Randall Delgado and, Martin Perez. C’mon guys.
Erlin has lovely control and I love the way he attacks hitterts but, he has given up 27 longballs and was very average in the Texas League -
Delgado came back to the Southern League in 2011 and wasn’t nearly as good as Paxton, who skipped A+ and, didn’t skip a beat.
Martin Perez will be in his fourth crack next year, most likely, in his quest to become a servicable AA pitcher.
Paxton had 7 starts and Kd 10 or more three times, and posted a 1.85 era,

I agree here.
Also the fact that Paxton has a legitimate chance to be in the rotation next year at some point played a factor in my mind.

Wheeler and Banuelos
… have more reason to be on the main list than Montgomery, says me.
by JRMayne on Nov 22, 2025 10:09 AM EST up reply actions
Well
Banuelos has no reason to be on the list. He was on the main list last poll, and got 1 vote. Everyone is getting at least 2 polls off if they get less than 3 votes on the main poll (that 3 vote min might change as the voting totals change or as the voting flattens out), so that applies to Wheeler too.
by auclairkeithbc on Nov 22, 2025 10:15 AM EST up reply actions
If you are saying you like Wheeler and Banuelos
More than Montgomery, fine. Lots of people do. He’s a tester that was added. Name me 3-4 testers you’d like to be added, and I’ll move them closer to the top of the list. I’m doing my best to add the right guys, based on what people here say, not just based on my own rankings.
by auclairkeithbc on Nov 22, 2025 10:17 AM EST up reply actions
I like
Lee, A Bradley, Wheeler fairly soon…I’d start considering Wheeler as soon as C Mart goes on.
by killa on Nov 22, 2025 10:19 AM EST up reply actions
Ok Zach Lee, fine.
But Bradley and Wheeler are already in the rotation. That means they are going to be automatically added when it is their turn. There is a maybe a slight chance someone can jump the list, but only after 2 polls off. Generally, once they are in the rotation, they just keep shifting their way along in a circle.
So advocating for guys like Wheeler, Bradley, Banuelos, is fine, but it has almost no effect on how quickly they get back on the poll.

Just wanted to say
that you’re really kicking ass with these. Not just with cranking out the lists, but with sorting thru feedback.

James Paxton v Carlos Martinez
Interesting that Carlos Martinez got more votes than Paxton last vote. Paxton sailed past High A and dominated in AA, while Martinez struggled some at high A.
Then again, C-Mart is three whole years younger than Paxton! I know age relative to leaguie doesn’t matter as much for pitchers but, he is still at a different developmental stage than Paxton. Its a tough call but, there are other indicators pointing to Pax - size, likelihood of staying as a starting pitcher, etc - and, again, he dominated at AA more than some guys already on the list: Parker, Pomeranz, Turner and, even Shelby Miller.

For me ...
… it is Martinez by a bit and you hit it on the head - age/level - three years is a whole lot pitcher or no. Paxton - there are questions around him too (see higher-than-ideal BB rate) and he profiles more as a #2 than an ace. There is significant risk, yes, in both of these guys. In the end I go with upside/youth on Martinez.

Archie Bradley
Is one of my next on. I voted Paxton here, but it’s up to Archie Bradley and Carlos Martinez for the next spot for me.

I may agree with you
He’s obviously a bit away but, looks like a Brad Penny type, big horse. I’d certainly roll the dice on him over some of the more marginal guys - in my opinion, of course - on the list right now: Rob Erlin, Martin Perez, Mike Montgomery, even Delgado to a degree.
