+1 Vote
The vote thus far is fairly shocking. Was Chad Bettis (a not dissimilar pitcher with a not unlikely relief outcome) that preferable to Molina (especially when the alternative is Andrelton FREAKING Simmons)?

I'm actually shocked
I usually agree with you but, why do you hate A “Freaking” Simmons so? His defensive numbers are oustanding and, he hit some. Im not convinced he is a s talented as a hittert as Alcides Escobar, for example but, he’s got a shot. I think his power could develop some and he could contribute. That siad, I like Molina as well.

'Freaking' was too strong, haha
I don’t have anything against Simmons really. I don’t have a good read on his power projection, but the contact rates are sublime (especially when considering that some with his kind of background might swing decidedly the other way). He’s an intriguing kid heading into 2012 & although I’m not as high as a lot of our regular voters on him, I could be behind the curve a little - I see why he garnered support at least & most accounts of his defense lend themsleves to superlatives it seems.
I like Molina too but he is extremely similar to Bettis in my opinion. If anything, he’d be ahead of Bettis to me considering his sterling control ratios, similar stuff/builds/ages/profiles & excellence in AA. Obviously Simmons is the same cat he was in the last poll, but I guess I would be more interested in knowing why so many people apparently prefer Bettis to Molina.

At this point in the rankings
I wish I could just pluck out all the high upside guys like Baez and Gray and vote on them.

I wonder
if the voting would be any different if Molina was still a Blue Jay. Not saying it would be, but just a thought.
by McCutchenIsTheTruth on Jan 24, 2026 7:13 PM EST reply actions
he had strong opposition
in the pitching polls when he was still a blue jay.
by auclairkeithbc on Jan 24, 2026 7:24 PM EST up reply actions
I thougth he was a fringe top-100 pitcher
As a Blue Jay, and I still think so too. Though 33 innings in AA gave him ridiculous helium. And I’m not saying they shouldn’t count for anything, but things got prett crazy
