NEEDED: ** YOUR EXPERT ADVICE on these IMPACT Prospects **
Calling All Studious Eyes & Savvy Brains:
I am completely rebuilding a last-place team in a Dynasty league and would love advice from FANPOST readers. No need to know my roster—just pretend that every position needs improvement. I am focusing on future success rather than the here & now.
1. I have Trevor Bauer. Should I trade him straight-up for Paul Goldschmidt? I like them both of course but is Goldschmidt slightly more valuable to be build around on the grounds that, long-term, batters are slightly less risky than pitchers?
2. Which of these two should I opt for: Byron Buxton or Mike Zunnio?
3. Who would you want: Xander Bogaerts, who is a bit more speculative, or Jacob Marisnick, who is a bit more proven?
4. Mason Williams or Brandon Jacobs?
5. Does anyone have an updated opinion about Stryker Trahan?
I am very faithful and impressed by the commentators on FANPOSTS so that’s why I come to you all with all my dreams, wishes, fears, and questions.
THANK YOU FOR ANY & ALL RESPONSES!!!!

Bauer
I would NEVER trade Bauer for Goldschmidt.
I only buy the whole “take the batter over the pitcher because there’s less risk” when their values are similar. Bauer is a borderline top 10 prospect, Goldschmidt didn’t have nearly as much pedigree.
Goldschmidt should be okay, but as a low BA / power bat 1B, he’s a dime a dozen.

My opinions:
1. No. Trading Bauer might be a good idea, since I think some people might be overrating him, but you can definitely do better than Goldschmidt.
2. Buxton. You’re completely rebuilding, so you should go for the player with the highest upside. It’s a lot easier to pick up complimentary parts than it is to get a superstar.
3. Bogearts
4. Williams
5. It’s probably important to note that Trahan could get moved off of catcher when he is drafted, a la Harper (though Trahan isn’t close to Harper in terms of ability). Don’t overvalue him because of positional scarcity just yet.

1. Not a chance. Bauer is terrific and if you really want to sort of sell high on him you can do better than Goldschmidt.
2. Mike Zunnio. Much harder to find a catcher who can hit like him than an outfielder who can produce like Buxton.
3. Xander Bogaerts. He’ll hit for more.
4. Mason Williams. One of my favorite prospects.
5. Like WhyGod said I have a feeling he is going to get the Harper/Myers treatment and get moved to the outfield. Nothing to back that up and I still like him though.

1. Bauer > Goldschmidt. Bauer could really rack up the K’s and be a premium fantasy starter. Goldschmidt is no slouch, but I don’t project him as one of the top 10 or so 1B in any given year.
2. Depends how risk averse you are. Zunino is a damn good catcher. Buxton is the better prospect in my mind - but with considerably more risk and positional scarcity against him. Buxton by a hair for me. If it was my team I might just take the safer, quicker payoff in Zunino
3. Bogaerts by a hair. Can’t really go wrong here, though
4. I’ll take Williams. Jacobs certainly in the conversation, though.
5. Trahan is a heck of receiver and projects as a dual threat catcher. Should hit for average and power. Lot to like there. He might even be a bit underrated because of his build.
