DISCUSSION

I applaud the community

. . . for having the arrogance to say tney are smarter than the people who run the Pittsburgh Pirates. Maybe, If they had a getter track record I would defer to them on these things but, ’tuil then . . .

by casejud on Nov 17, 2025 12:36 PM EST up reply actions

I mean

they’ve rated two players higher that the Pirates passed on, and its not like Cole was an overdraft…

The Pirates didn’t get the luxury that Nationals had the last two years.

Were John's pre-draft rankings "arrogant"?

John had Cole 3rd on his draft board. Did he do that out of "arrogance" also? I’m guessing it’s because he thought Cole was the 3rd best player in the draft. It looks like Cole will be 3rd draftee to be voted in by the community also. I appreciate the help with the list, but, I believe taking a shot at the community on this one is uncalled for.

I think you are misreading him

He agrees with the community.

by auclairkeithbc on Nov 17, 2025 2:40 PM EST up reply actions

reply fail I guess?

Was commenting on arrogance remark.. reply fail I guess.

by ROBERTS04 on Nov 17, 2025 2:47 PM EST up reply actions

no...

i mean he “applauds” us for our “arrogance.” i mean he is using one word sarcastically. i think he is genuinely applauding us, not saying we are genuinely arrogant.

by auclairkeithbc on Nov 17, 2025 2:59 PM EST up reply actions

Oh.

It looked to me like mocking the community’s track record. Sorry if I misinterpreted your post Casejud.

by ROBERTS04 on Nov 17, 2025 3:16 PM EST up reply actions

I'm actually sorry

. . . for saying something that was sort of sarcastic and, difficult to figure out. I think the community, including me because I am lower on Cole than mist, is displaying a bit of arrogance in our placement of him but, we may be right!

I would have taken Trevor Bauer or. Francisco Lindor with the first pick but, who knows what went into thier decision.

I was mostly commenting on how we have evolved, as a group, beyond “they know what they are doing”. As for if that is good or, bad, who knows?

by casejud on Nov 17, 2025 3:43 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I will say this

Bauer ended up about 10 spots higher than I would have him. Again, it proves that this community is more stats driven than scouting driven.

by guru4u on Nov 17, 2025 3:36 PM EST up reply actions

But he was the best

prospect before the draft too, right?

by auclairkeithbc on Nov 17, 2025 3:36 PM EST up reply actions

LOL

I had Bauer 4th on my draft list. In fact, I don’t know anyone that had Bauer #1. BA had Bundy #1.

by guru4u on Nov 17, 2025 3:41 PM EST up reply actions

I can name one

who had him higher than 4th, the Diamonbacks!
