Miguel Sano
. . . is the one prospect I have absolutely no feel for how good he really is. His numbers/age in the APPy League are scary similar to former Braves prospect Cody Johnson, another kid with great, great raw power. Then again Sano was great, and he was 18. Then again, nobody who is anybody pitched in the Appy League last year.
I’ve also yet to hear a voice that I respect say “I saw Sano play and, he is great!”. If you have any reports like this, pleas pass along. I just do not know about him, still.

Ask ...
… and you shall receive.
Sano was named BA’s #1 Overall Appy league prospect, and they had this to say:
Sano ranked No. 1 after dueling teammate Eddie Rosario for the league home run title all season long. Ray Smith has seen thousands of players pass through the Appy League in 18 seasons as Elizabethton’s manager, among them No. 1 overall draft picks and future American League MVPs Josh Hamilton and Joe Mauer. Smith said Sano’s offensive potential at the same age compares favorably with that dynamic duo.
Now, organizations are known to hype their own prospects, but you don’t see anyone throwing around comps like that without some basis.

Thanks
I still feel like I don;’t know but, that is high praise, to be sure.

Well.
Before last season his average rank from BA, Kevin Goldstein, Keith Law, and Frankie Piliere was 40th overall. And this season, he became the 4th player in Appy League history to hit 20 HR (291 plate appearances). His K rate was a little concerning though.
I haven’t seen many scouting reports on him either (BA subscribers have on from the Appy top 20 list). There was this blurb from the free write up on that list: “Ray Smith has seen thousands of players pass through the Appy League in 18 seasons as Elizabethton’s manager, among them No. 1 overall draft picks and future American League MVPs Josh Hamilton and Joe Mauer. Smith said Sano’s offensive potential at the same age compares favorably with that dynamic duo.”
This was from KG in his top 11 this year…http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=15393

He is definitely ahead of Turner for me
I prefer Walker and Pomeranz to him though at this point. I could actually see a big run on hitters after Pom gets on. Turner just doesn’t do much for me.
by auclairkeithbc on Nov 22, 2025 2:22 PM EST up reply actions
I liked Turner visually
. . . when I sawe him make his debut but, his results aren’t that impressive. he looks the part phsically and stuff-wise than a guy like Delgado for me.
I’m probably going to vote for everybody over Sano for a while. I may be wrong but, when I am it is often on someone I haven’t seen much and have no feel for. I prefer to be wrong (or maybe right, who knows) in a big way :)

I don't really think Delgado
Is necessarily better than Turner. But Sano is to me, for sure.
by auclairkeithbc on Nov 22, 2025 3:47 PM EST up reply actions
Wait, are you saying Delgado doesn't look the part physically and stuff wise?
Delgado is 6’3" and pretty thick. He also has a fastball that sits 92-93 with a change that’s at least plus and a curve and slider that both look to be at least average currently. He honestly has very good stuff. The problem is that he currently just can’t command it at all.
by nixa37 on Nov 22, 2025 9:48 PM EST up reply actions
No, only comparitively
I don’t even think his command is that bad but, maybe you have seen him more. I just thouight Turner looked bigger and, stronger, with a bigger fastball when I saw him. I don’t think there is anything wrong with Delgado. I think he actually underrated generally. Including, possibly, by me.

Delgado had better fastball velocity per pitch f/x and BIS
Not sure why you would think Turner has a bigger fastball. Like I said, Delgado sits 92-93, touching as high as 97 per pitch f/x. Turner never even got to 95 (without rounding up) in the majors per the same numbers.

Hmm
Because the eyes decieve one?
Why do you only deate me about Atlanta Braves, Nix?

They're the team I know
I was surprised when Delgado came up and I saw how good his velocity was. I always thought he was more 90-91 than 92-93.
by nixa37 on Nov 23, 2025 3:16 PM EST up reply actions
Thats what I had heard as well
They may be roughly equal as prospects the more I look. It’s hard to find one thing to like more anout the other. I guess maybe Turner throws strikes a bit more but, Delgado doesn’t exactly look wild, to me.
