I don't understand it one bit
I’ve got Arcia / Middlebrooks / Rosario all safely ahead of him.

Where were these voters last round?
Were they all voting for Andrelton Simmons until now? Baez got 1.8% last time.
Someone must have made a very convincing case for him. He’s getting the Rick Santorum vote. Late surge.

Quite a few are Andrelton voters that moved on to Baez

Interesting
I don’t really see any similarities between the two players, except, loosely both are “shortstop prospects” but, whatever :)

I voted Rosario
I know a lot of folks love his power projection over Rosario, but the possible 2b positional advantage made me go for Rosario, plus John follows the Twins and had Rosario ahead of Arcia, concerned about Arcia’s walk rate, I think. Close though.
My write-in would be Catricala. Was hoping he’d sneak into top 100 but looks like he won’t be a top 50 position player in the community poll. maybe mid-50s.

meant Arcia
I meant i voted Rosario but that Arcia has more power projection, supposedly.
by wobatus on Jan 5, 2026 12:25 PM EST up reply actions
Arcia was hurt and stil played last year at a higher level than Hicks, while at the same leage (for half the season ) as Hicks
I don’t see how Rosario > than Arcia
Unless you believe Rosario has 5 tools will Steal Bases and hitt for power WHILE playing 2B.
And i just don’t buy it, HOW could you yet? He’s (rosario) not even in single A ball yet

Hardly a singular opinion
I know Alskor disagrees, and you lay out some reasons to prefer Arcia. However, even given that Arcia destroyed rookie ball at 19 in 2010 even more so at roughly the same age as Rosario did in 2011, I prefer Rosario.
First, second base. That’s a big positioonal advantage over an outfielder unless a cf. Rosario of course has yet to prove he can actually play 2b, but they will try him there.
Second, higher walk rate and lower k rate in same league at same age.
Three, higher speed score (this likely is already factored in somewhat by the 2b-lf advantage).
Arcia does appear to be a monster promising hitter. He held his own at 20 in high A after mashing A ball, even with an injury. There’s a lot to be said for that, since that’s a much tougher test than rookie ball. The walk rate was a little low. John mentions that, of course, and he prefers Rosario slightly. That’s one reason why i don’t think the opinion is all that unusual.
I can see why some might prefer Arcia. Rosario could easily fall flat on his face at higher levels.

I think we should have a run-off between Middlebrooks and Baez
by cookiedabookie on Jan 6, 2026 7:01 PM EST reply actions
prob is (and voting is now closed)
Arcia is just 1 vote behind Middlebrooks, and then Rosario is 1 behind Arcia
Can’t have a 4 way runoff, so I’m going to vote for Middlebrooks, since him / Arcia / Rosario are within 6 spots for me (disclaimer, higher it Rosario > Arcia > Middlebrooks), and in terms of the runoff, Baez & Middlebrooks are at the same position.
