Rating last year's rookies-Community Prospect #14

In something of a surprise, Cory Luebke emerges from the pack to edge to make the runoff along with Paul Goldschmidt, and then edges Goldschmidt to win the round for the #13 rank among last years rookies

1.  Brett Lawrie, 3b Toronto Blue Jays (51%)

2,  Eric Hosmer, 1b Kansas City Royals (57%)

3.  Michael Pineda, P Seattle Mariners (38%)

4.  Dustin Ackley, 2b Seattle Mariners (41%)

5. Desmond Jennings, of Tampa Bay Rays (47%)

6. Jeremy Hellickson, P Tampa Bay Rays  (49%)

7. Freddie Freeman, 1B Atlanta Braves (45%)

8. Brandon Beachy, P Atlanta Braves (27%)

9. Brandon Belt, OF/!B San Francisco Giants (33%)

10. Mike Moustakas, 3b Kansas City Royals (38%)

11. Domonic Brown, of Philadelphia Phillies (32%) (70% runoff)

12. Jason Kipnis, 2b Cleveland Indians 29%

13. Cory Luebke, P San Diego Padres 19% (59% runoff)

Star-divide

The voting breakdown after Cory Luebke was:Paul Goldschmidt 22% (41% runoff), Danny Espinosa 16%, Aroldis chapman 16%, Craig Kimbrel 14%, Lucas Duda 5% (write in), Chris Sale 5% (write in), Salvador Perez 3%, Vance Worley 0% Josh Collmenter 0%, Ben Revere 0%

I'm going to keep everyone on the ballot who got at least 5% of the vote, and drop everyone who didn't, so we'll drop Salvador Perez, Vance Worley, Josh Collmenter and Ben Revere.   We'll rotate back in Lucas Duda and Chris Sae (based on their getting 5% of the vote as a write in candidate) along with Zach Britton, Wilson Ramos and Henderson Alvarez.

In rotation: Jose Altuve 0% round 10, Ivan Nova 3% (round 11), Jordan Walden 0% (round 11), JD Martinez 0% (round 11), Danny Duffy 3% (round 12), Mark Trumbo 0% (round 12), Jemile Weeks 0% (round 12), Kyle Drabek 0% (round 12),  Salvador Perez 3% (round 13), Vance Worley 0% (round 13, Ben Revere 0% (round 13), Josh Collmenter 0% (round 13)

We'll give both Kenley Jansen and Mke Minor their first time on the ballot this round, leaving as future testers:

Dayan Viciedo, Juan Nicasio Alex CobbJordan Lyles, Alan Craig, Mke Carp and Jerry Sands.

As always voting is by +1 and there are places below to suggest testers or vote for players not currently on the ballot.

So who is your number 14 prospect for future performance among last year's rookies?

Absolute joke that a petco product got on before this k/gb machine with lester-like upside

by Wheelhouse on Nov 23, 2025 2:26 PM EST up reply actions

He's still never made a pro start

Maybe some people aren’t giving him full credit for having starter upside when he hasn’t proven that he can handle starting at the professional level. That’s a completely reasonable position to hold.
