Pelzer could go...

25 y.o., exclusively a RP now, K% continues to drop while BB% rises. Org arm is about the best I can see for him.

Funny

Different perceptions & all. Wynn Pelzer would probably be somewhere between 15 to 20 for me of the names above (however admittedly far from a Baltimore minors wonk).

Steve Johnson

Is he really anything anymore?

arizona

Well I saw him throw a few good pitches in the Arizona Fall League, lol

Joe Mahoney

I remember seeing him a bit in Frederick awhile back. Was never all that impressed watching him, but he just keeps producing, and since going to Bowie, the power has picked up a bit (I’ll have to check minor league park factors at some point, never thought Harry Grove inflated power that much, but it’s possible). Would’ve liked to see him hit AAA this year, but small gripe I guess. Still not sure he’s anything to get excited about (in terms of starting quality), but one of those guys that fills a key roles in the system and keeps moving up.

You could probably cut Tanaka

How about Oliver Drake?

late inning for Drake?

hmm … has his stuff really picked up that much in the past year and change? Used to be an average velo fastball with very pedestrian secondary pitches the few times I’ve seen him. I know one game, against Kinston a year ago I think, he was only topping out at 90 on some guns.

drake

I was looking at him

Personally...

it’s nice to see Tanaka’s inclusion here. Not a typical prospect, but someone who could contribute to the O’s next year.

I’m not familiar w a lot of the younger pitchers, but Wright’s stats look worse than many of the others, so he’d my choice for one to cut.

Personally, I’d include R Welty here, too. Had an off year, but had good years in the past and is still only 23 y/o (it’s a weak system, and there currently are more pitchers than hitters on this list).

I’m not campaigning for him, but I was surprised not to see Aaron Baker listed. He’s the guy the O’s got in the Derrick Lee trade. I dont see anything special about him.

In addition to Drake, Gabriel Lino should prolly be on this list IMO

Tanaka shouldn’t be.

If you look at those UZR ratings or whatever

by dfa on Nov 23, 2025 4:19 PM EST reply actions

Definitely, Definitely...

add Gabriel Lino. Bigtime sleeper prospect. Already a solid defensive catcher with some power potential. Orioleshangout.com and BP have him ranked #10 and #15 in the organization respectively. He should be on here instead of Wynston Sawyer considering he will probably start over him at Delmarva next year
Tanaka can go, not sure why he was on here to begin with
Oliver Drake should be added
Matt Angle - CF too
Others that can go:
Narron - stats were borderline awful at Aberdeen, have serious doubts about him
Johnson - org filler at best, terrible GO/AO ratio
Hudson - org filler, should be replaced with matt angle

well.

I cut Sawyer. Tanaka is interesting but yeah he i sold. Drake is already added. Hudson has to be on there. Johnson is cut. Narron was a big-money guy and people will ask about him.

Lino

Lino is interesting. I’ll check into him.

Matt Bywater?

I thought his nice K rate might land him on the prelim list somewhere, he did walk a lot of guys but decent start in pro ball I thought - 68Ks in 60 IP in Rookie & A ball. Slightly old for league the reason?
