Teheran
The injury issues were apparently fairly minor but the Braves shut him down for precautionary reasons. Pitching in rookie ball after just turning 17 last January he struck out 17 and walked just 4 in 15 IP. His fastball is legit though. Goldstein had this to say about Teheran in a fairly recent chat…“Still a stud. Had some slight injury issues and was inconsistent, but still touched 98 this year and sat in the low-to-mid 90s. Remain excited.”
I think its fair to say that he probably has more upside than any player left at this point.

Martin
His injury wasn’t pitching related, and there is a reason he was picked way ahead of Holt. They both have great fastballs, but Martin actually has secondary pitches.
I find Lambo thoroughly uninspiring.

Weeks/Taylor/Holt/Martin/Lawrie/Niemann/Elbert/Barnese
in whatever order you see fit
then you can go ahead and put Melville on. After that I’m not sold on anyone (probably McAllister/Castro/Cooper or something like that)

i own him in a dynasty league, so i’m a touch on the homerish side, but he’s a solid bat that should play in the middle infield….

Yep
If he sticks at SS, then he’s very valuable, but he still has good value at 2B. I’ve got him 7 spots after Coghlan on my own list, but I have Coghlan on at 86, so at this point I feel Valaika is starting to get underrated. I’d also throw Luis Valbuena out there as a tester.

Thinking Tucker/McAllister/Cooper
I buy Cooper’s bat, I think I like McAllister more than I should, but going with Tucker. He’s getting a bit underrated, at least, in regards to this list.

Honest question on
Dan Bard. Can I ask why so many people think he deserves to this high? I’m just curious. I think he’s an intriguing closing prospect that has a lot of work to do. I mean, how is he garnering more votes than say, Jose Ceda? Both have electric fastballs, but Ceda has a second plus pitch to go with it. Both have control kinks to iron out. Just curious.
Anyhow, barring a late surge, looks like Teheeran has this one.

Similar stuff, more dominant results
Ceda is both more hittable and strikes out fewer. Bard also has a second plus pitch, just it’s not an offspeed pitch (his cutter). Bard’s fastball also moves like crazy. Haven’t seen much of Ceda, but I’d guess his fastball has less movement simply because they throw the same speed but Ceda misses far fewer bats. Ceda does have a year and a half age advantage and has slightly (but not much) better control, so I can see where someone would rate Ceda ahead if you think he’ll continue to develop, but it’s not like he’s projectable or anything. Also, Bard did what he did in slightly more hitting-favorable environments than Ceda. Either way, I have Bard ahead of him by a fair amount.

thanks for a reply
Ceda misses far fewer bats? He had a 12.46 K rate in AA. I wouldn’t judge his High A K rates all that much - he was being utilized as a starter and everyone knew he didn’t have a third pitch that would be effective enough. Personally, I think Ceda’s 4-seam fastball is a bit better than Bard’s (I think Bard throws a 2-seamer as well), although both are close, although his slider is just flat out filthy. I haven’t heard anyone put Bard’s cutter anywhere near the level that people have Ceda’s slider.
Dunno, I just don’t see Bard, who I like a lot, close to Ceda. I think Ceda has better stuff, and after this year, provided he can maintain his mechanics, better mechanics as well. That was the big issue with Ceda before - his mechanics were a mess, and he cleaned them out this past year, allowing him to improve his control.
I guess it comes down to this for me in comparing the two - I buy Ceda’s stuff as being superior, I buy Ceda’s control improving as he maintains his mechanics.
Btw, I could be wrong, but I’m almost certain that Tennessee was a more hitting favorable environment than Portland.

Adam Moore
Really deserves another tester soon. He has good defense at least and his bat projects to be good for a catcher. He put up an OPS of .900 in the Souther League and looks like he can hit around in the MLB 280/350/420 with a chance for more.
I am a big fan of Lawrie’s bat but I would like to wait until he gets some games as a pro at catcher before I would start projecting him as one. If I remember correctly, Lawrie never played catcher before this year or never before. With him I would take a more of a wait and see approach.
Also, Barnese should be getting on soon.

as you are a mariners fan
i’m wondering if you think Juan Ramirez should get a tester soon, with Michael Pineda somewhere nearby, particularly considering Teheran is likely to get on soon. I’m too lazy to go make a top list to figure out exactly where I’d place somewhere, but I had roughly thought of Ramirez as a top 150 type of guy.

Ramirez needs one
His stuff is very good and his preformance is very good if you look at his peripheral numbers. I think he can be a #2/3 starter even if he develops a good second secondary pitch. He is not as young as some of the other pitchers here but I think he has the ability to really be something special if he is developed properly.
I am not as big of a fan of Pineda as others are. He did preform very well considering it was his first go around in the states but that is more likely due to very good control and impressive pitch selection. His stuff is not that impressive and he looks like a future reliever to me, maybe a 5th starter. His fastball is just hitting 90mph and none of his secondary pitches is more than average I believe. Jason Churchill has a scouting report posted on his site somewhere if you are interested.

Pineda
Just a quote on his stuff, “His fastball sits in the 89-92 mph range and his slider and change are considered average or better.”
Got that from here, I think there is a more complete report elsewhere though,
