eh ok list
But I seriously think we are once again suffering from prospect groupthink. Many of these lists look rather similar with a few minor exceptions, probably at least in part in order to get approval from the community that tends to bash any lists that defy their expectations. We know next season a lot of these guys on the list will disappoint, some will break out, and some who we don’t usually put on the lists will burst on to the new prospect scene.
Don’t be afraid to make totally original and controversial posts, David Luciani had the right idea. Let’s see some originality, people!

Eh
being different for the sake of being different is rarely worthwhile. Unless it’s based on tons of research and done by someone well versed - you may as well throw the names in a hat.

I wouldn't say tons of research
If you can make a decent argument as to where you want your prospects, I think it helps to have difference.
It’s the discussion that is really valuable, not the lists.

Tazawa
Why are a lot of people so high on this kid? The scouting reports say he works in the low 90’s with decent but not excellent stuff. He’s nowhere close to Daisuke. He has only faced semi-pro talent over in Japan, so we have no idea what true professionals will do to him.
I think some of us suffer from SNTS with Junichi. That, plus Daisuke being so successful (despite walking half the batters he faces). I see more Kei Igawa in Junichi myself. There is no way he cracks my top 100 right now.

No one
is comparing him to Dice by putting him in the top 5. From what I’ve seen, he’s a safe bet to at least be decent MLB’er, making a spot in the top 50-100 very legit.

I think you misunderstood Slurve
I never said anyone was comparing him to Dice-K. I just think because the last big Japanese import ended up being a huge success, people tend to inherently think that the next one will be a success as well - kind of like how someone like Irabu was overrated after Nomo was such a big success.
I have my doubts that he will be a decent MLB’er, which is why I did not put him in my top 100.

tazawa/viciedo
if you thought about tazawa and included him I think it’s a pretty big oversight to not include viciedo somewhere…i know they are clearly nothing alike, but I cannot imagine viciedo wouldn’t be on most top 100 lists, he is #3 on Baseball America’s top 10 where Tazawa is going to slot somewhere at 6,7, or 8 I believe on the Red Sox (i know that relationship is not great since the Red Sox system is way way better than the White Sox).
