Danny Duffy?

Danny Duffy is topping out at 98 mph tonight against the Yankees. Did I miss something? When did he start throwing this hard? He's throwing harder than Matt Moore has thrown this year. I never realized he had that kind of stuff. I guess he has the highest average fastball in baseball this year. That's crazy.

Dumb word limit. Dumb word limit. Dumb word limit. Dumb word limit. Dumb word limit. Dumb word limit.

Big time...

His FB has jumped an average of 4 MPH since last year - I just hope that’s not a precursor of ominous things…

velo has been outstanding

All year, he just looks better across the board.

As dbreer stated, I’m really worried about that elbow though.

stuff is ridiculous

matter of command between him being a staff anchor or not.

and if he doesn’t he’s still a mid rotation guy.

he's not throwing THAT hard....

the k gun is widely recognized as being about 2 mph hot. Even with that taken into account though, he’s throwing almost as hard as anyone and yes, it’s been a big jump in velocity.

Kaufman's gun is ridiculous

Kelvin Herrera doesnt throw 102 and Verlander doesnt hit 101 in the 9th.

Youll see the velocity slip on the road

by Royals2012 on May 4, 2025 9:36 AM EDT reply actions

verlander does hit 99 in the 9th though

i think duffys fastball probably averages somewhere around 93 or 94 which is still really good

Velo

Does it seem like there’s a widespread case of Lossoveloitis in the MLB this year. From Timmy to CC to Felix. It’s early, but it’s definitely more pronounced this year.

yes, but it just turned may

Halladay is down too…

54 of Duffy's 90 pitches last night were 95 or better.

I never knew him to throw that hard either, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

The same gun had David Phelps in the 89-92 range with his fastball, which is pretty accurate.

So, even if the gun was 2 mph hot, Duffy was still consistently in the 94-97 range.

Topped out at 99

He was sitting at 98-99 in the 1st inning on the YES broadcast last night. I just figured it was the 11 day layoff.

He is mid to upper 90s

every time I have seen him pitch this year
