CBS Sports posted a great article here talking about discussions going between MLB and the NCAA. I hate many of the rules that NCAA has but like college baseball. The fact that they only have 11.7 to spread over their entire roster limits the talent they can have. It also limits anyone with anyone who NEEDS a scholarship to go to school. I know that feeling, I'm sure many of you do as well.
If this happens, it could make the good work that MLB does with the RBI program seem like a drop in the ocean. If MLB would fund college baseball, as I feel they should, it could vastly change the way college baseball is ran and players are developed.
I would love MLB to write the NCAA a check each year to cover the costs of running the baseball programs and make the NCAA the best developmental league for any prospect. There is a large amount of work to be done between where we are now and where it could be but it's exciting to see a step in the right direction.
