Hey John, your email got hacked

Feel free to delete this when you see it, but I got a pair of spam messages from your aol email. Didn't know if that was the only account so I figured you would see it this way, if nothing else.

yeah

Yeah I got hacked. Very annoying since my password is not something anyone should be able to guess and my computer is scanning clean. Sorry guys.

unfortunately

there’s more to hacking than some random guy guessing passwords. There are large automated networks that can be used to brute force passwords and what not, or just spyware that sits on your system and memorizes them.

well

avg, mcafee, and malware bytes all say my system is clean so if there is spyware it is well-buried.

When the hack happened my computer wasn’t even on.

Perhaps AOL itself was hacked...

which means you didn’t have to do a damned thing, lol. Sorry for the troubles, John.

it's OK

I contacted AOL and the problem is resolved (I think). If any more spams go out please let me know

That may be your problem

running two antivirus programs is a bad idea. AVG and Mcafee likely conflict with each other. Malwarebyetes is anti-spyware so that is ok to run but not two antivirus…

I got it as well

But I figured it was just spam so I didn’t open it.
