They have what, 5-6 B- or better?
Pretty weak system overall.

Who would you put in that group?
I’m by no means a prospect expert so I’m interested in hearing as many different opinions as I can. I do like what I’ve heard/seen from Yelich, Ozuna, Jensen, Realmuto, and Hope. I’m looking forward to getting a better look at Jose Fernandez and Charlie Lowell.
Or, imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi. I'm in Delaware.

My opinion
Marcell Ozuna, Christian Yelich, Jorge Fernandez, Matt Dominguez, JP Realmuto & Chad James probably. I agree with the original post though; that’d be about it for me before it drops off.

Thanks, yeah
Ha, not sure where ‘Jorge’ came from (maybe that Jorge Lopez the Brewers took later on in that draft sort of seeped in?).

Eh
I don’t blame you man. I just finished law school finals and I can barely think. My brain is mush.

Yep
Although Conley could sneak in as a B-, depending on how one feels about his ability to stay healthy and out of the bullpen.

This might be
the worst system of 2012…definitely a bottom 5 for me.

Brewers
is gonna be pretty fugly. White Sox was going to be, but then they added Molina. But ya, this one is pretty bad. Reminds me of the Pirates 3 years ago.

so it will take longer to refill the cupboard

hand
Too many innings for Hand. Not a rookie.
by John Sickels on Dec 14, 2025 4:39 PM EST up reply actions
Other names to consider
Olmos, Hand (is he not eligible?), Bryan Berglund, Josh Hodges, Daniel Oliver, Ramon Dell Orbe, Zachary Neal, Robert Morey, Rhett Varner

I looked at all those guys and rejected them for one reason or another.
by John Sickels on Dec 14, 2025 4:44 PM EST up reply actions
Understandable
Del Orbe, Oliver, Olmos (even with the rough year) intrigue me the most
by bucklin12 on Dec 14, 2025 5:53 PM EST up reply actions
Rhett Varner
now there’s a good baseball name… guy has to be a player.

Are there any big bonus international signees?
Maybe they could be added? I can’t think of any. Can we preemptively add Cepedes or Soler? I’m running out of ideas here.
It’s too bad, because they do have some nice pieces at top (Yelich, Ozuna, Fernandez are my top three, but Dominguez is not far behind)

No Gorski?
Surprised there is no Darin Gorski on your list. He wasn’t highly considered going into 2011, but hecertainly had a fine season and demonsrated he has value going forward. Seems to belong somewhere on the list.

gorski is on the mets

Sorry, wrong post.
Please disreard/delete the Gorsi reference. He’ in the Mets system.
by Hairylady on Dec 14, 2025 8:10 PM EST reply actions
Yeah, bad system...
but I think Detroit’s is worse. Definitely if they trade Turner.
Well, if you’re looking to add a player, the best I can find are Beau Jones, who is in their system now, and Jose Alvarez. Jones was fairly highly regarded when he was w the Rangers, Had a pretty good year in a hitters’ league and is lefty but is 25 y/o. Alvarez is undersized but also a lefty and y/o and age-appropriate. Both have decent K rates, altho not great. Jones is a reliever; Alvarez is still a starter, but may have trouble remaining one.

Ny personal top 10
1- Christian Yelich
2- Marcell Ozuna
3- Jose Fernandez
4- Matt Dominguez
5- JT Realmuto
6- Chad James
7- Noah Perio
8-Rob Rasmussen
9- Adam Conley
10- Kyle Jensen
Really like Yelich, Ozuna and Realmuto quite a bit. I thnk all 3 will develop nice and are very good athletes. Noah Perio is also intriguing if he continues to improve. Like Fernandez stuff a lot but James stuff took a step back last season. Hope for a turn around. Austin Brice and Mason Hope got nice arms and can be break out prospects this year. Meanwhile, Lowell, Conley and Rasmussen are solid back end starters or bullpen arms. Definitely not he stronges the system has been in recent years but they still have some pieces on the farm.

Ozuna
intrigues me. Interested in watching him at higher levels. See how he adjusts to tougher competition.
by McCutchenIsTheTruth on Dec 15, 2025 2:26 AM EST up reply actions
Me too
Ozuna had a marked adjustment period in his first full season outside of short season play, but he was one of the most dangerous hitters on the circuit by summer’s end. Yelich is safer & a little younger, but I think Ozuna has more raw upshot despite being less polished as of now. I feel Marcell is the more gifted athlete with much more power and he’s definitely got the plus (albeit sort of inaccurate) arm in the field. We’ll see how he does in Jupiter & it will be cool to see Yelich & Realmuto likely be promoted similary from the regining SAL champions.

So does Al from Home Improvement
What does that have to do with the Marlins, my man?
by Matt0330 on Dec 16, 2025 9:06 AM EST up reply actions
He has a great eye
and a huge frame that could possibly develop some power. Could be a real nice 4th OF, he deffinatly cracks my “Miami” Marlins top 37, my man.
