2012 MLB Draft Prospects By Region: West
JOEY GALLO VIDEO (via Fidog91)
This area would look a lot better if Deven Marrero was hitting. It's weird to me to have Washington in here with AZ and NM but they do have some of the better talent this year.
My Floor and Ceiling ratings are given to help place them into tiers. This way you can see how they stack up against each other. You can find my rating on nearly every prospect you can think of here to compare as to what type of player they are or who they are similar to. The grades change as prospects are ever evolving but this is as good of a way to categorize them as I have found.
If you have specific questions about a player or if I am missing someone you think should be here, let me know. I'd like to use these as discussion topics to talk about the players here instead of posting one by one. This is a learning process, so let me know how I can improve this as well.

Fernando Perez
JC player but high school age. Looks interesting. Maybe second round. Does he have enough to make it to the majors as a starter?

Has the bat and the glove should play at 3B. We will see, but I like him.

trey lang
gateway community college.
got some hype early in the year, big kid (probably 6’3", 230), throws hard, solid slider, very raw

Abe Ruiz
ASU
1B
6’3", 240 lbs
leads the pac12 in homers and also has very good plate discipline. Big guy, left handed power, reminds me of former USC guy and Mets RFer Lucas Duda

Bat will really have to play
But he is a name to watch

agree
big bodied guy, not much there other than the power and plate discipline.
but i can’t remember a pac12 homerun leader not being popped outside the top 5 rounds however

How do you leave out this guy?
Dylan Baker: RHP, Western Nevada JuCo, NV (6’3", 215) DOB=??
Draft-eligible sophomore. Ranked the #83 overall prospect by BA. Consistently touching 96-97 mph in every start until his last 2 games. Plus to plus-plus slider and 13.5 K/9. Only issue seems to be control. Arguably, he’s the #2 college prospect in the region.
My son, Adalberto Mejia. He's got the goods - he just needs a cool nickname.

He is
On my board now. I hadn’t added him because I didn’t have any good info other than mid-90’s velocity when I created these lists. I’m sure there are a few others I missed as well, but he is one of the more glaring omissions.

mlb draft
What’s your opinion on a local player here named Trek Stemp from Kennewick. He received a top 200 draft prospect package from MLB and they did send someone out to do drug test.

Small middle infielder
that looks like a good college guy. Will be a late round guy if he gets drafted.
