Excited to see Delgado pitch against my Rays.
I haven’t seen him pitch too much.

Now in the AA leg of his rehab swing:
3 IP, 6H, 1R, 0BB, 3K
For some reason the Mets had him on a 50-60 pitch limit today, after letting him go deeper in his first two rehab starts.
by psiogen on May 19, 2025 4:44 PM EDT reply actions
perhaps they're hoping that the variation will encourage the regrowth of his arm strength
Another possibility is that the Mets want to make a determination as to whether he is a starter or a reliever in the long-term.

Christian Friedrich
going against the Mariners today. Anyone know what kind of velocity he’s working with this year?
by sethbeno on May 19, 2025 4:54 PM EDT reply actions
Fangraphs
is a good place to keep track of this information. You can check the average velocity for each pitch for major league games. You can check my game, or the season as a whole. His fb is sitting at 91.9.

I check FG often
but never realized they tracked pitch velocity. I should have known considering they track stats for everything. Thanks.

by Woodland League on May 19, 2025 7:51 PM EDT reply actions
I was on of those who overlooked him. I feel bad for that, because I have been so impressed with him at the MLB level.
He had 12 groundouts to one flyout. So 18 out of the 21 outs were Ks or GBs.

It's quite premature to ask, but
When do you all see him being bumped up a level?
by brirob on May 19, 2025 8:54 PM EDT up reply actions
Seeing as he's only 19 and not decimating his level, I could see him spending the full season there.
But I’m not an expert on these matters. No real reason to rush him at this point as there’s nowhere for him to play on the big league club. Might as well let him mature a bit.
by the tourist on May 19, 2025 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions
good assumption
but the Rangers are notoriously aggressive with their prospects and Profar’s no exception (he’s only 19 in AA). I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in Round Rock in August.

Sale or Keys?
Which player’s recent performance is for real - Sale, or Keys - or both?
by brirob on May 19, 2025 10:17 PM EDT up reply actions
I'm much more confident about Sale
His current performance jives with previous scouting reports, which gives us two pieces of data. For Keys, though, this is coming out of nowhere, not to mention that a lot of his performance is BABIP-related

Drew Vettleson 3-5 3B

And yet
Still firmly looking upwards at my Lugnuts in the standings. And yes, I know, the standings mean less than nothing. But since my Jays have spent most of the last 4+ years looking upward at Tampa, I’m taking satisfaction in the loaded Lugnut squad outdoing the loaded Bowling Green squad, as pointless and perverse as that may be.

Interesting potential sleeper, taken in the 6th round in 2010 out of a Texas JC. 6’5" lefty, only 22. Doesn’t throw hard, high-80s/low 90s with a decent change-up and developing curveball (it induced a number swinging strikes tonight, and he spotted it for called strikes as well). Put up decent numbers for Lasing last year in the Midwest League, but was kinda old for the level, but is reasonably age appropriate now and holding his own.
