The Road Ahead
I am learning to use the new system along with everyone else, so today is basically a "get to know the new system" day. Tomorrow we will resume regular posting, and the path ahead looks like this:
Wednesday: Assessing Fernando Martinez
Thursday: Not a Rookie: Matt Kemp
Friday: Not a Rookie: Scott Baker
Saturday: Kotchman Projection Results, Community Projection Zack Greinke

Username
John (or Trei), is there anyway I can get my old user name (Uncle Charlie)? The system told me someone over at Athletics Nation had it reserved, but I couldn't find a single post from that person.
Not a huge deal, and I'm sure that there are way more pressing things to deal with for the switch-over, but it would be nice to get my old nickname back.

Charlie
Charlie, the other Uncle Charlie on Athletics Nation has been there for 3 years and his account is very active, so he's got seniority. Sorry about that...this was one of the issues we knew we had to deal with when converting to a "one account" system.

OK
Oh, sorry about that. My admittedly quick searches didn't pull him up...maybe I'll find the guy and challenge him to a cage match for the name.

Username unavailable
This really is an unfortunate result of the new system. My username of jonk was taken by somebody on another forum, so I had to change mine. Now, personally I don't really care because I don't comment a lot. But for people like our Uncle Charlie and others, this must be quite disappointing.

I don't know enough about the system but I will ask the relevant authorities.

This
is actually pretty depressing. I liked the personal feel of the old layout. I'm kind of put off by this. I'll be around but it's not tickling my fancy.

Oh my God
This new look is HIDEOUS. It pains me to look at the computer.
I'd rather the WRITING of a site stand out, not the crazy colors.
This is obviously not a criticism of Sickle's at all, i know this has nothing to do with him really.

nms, we adjusted the colors yesterday afternoon
Hope that's easier on your eyes! We developed the color scheme with John and can always make changes. We want the writing and comments to be the focus, too.
I'm one of the guys who built the new SB Nation. Please don't hesitate to give us feedback.

I understand if there won't be any new posts today
But are we going to see the super secret really cool thing (or whatever its name was)?
by OldProspects on Mar 18, 2026 1:55 PM EDT 0 recs
this is it
The new layout is the really cool thing. I know reactions are mixed right now, and that's to be expected, and heck MY reaction was very mixed at first. But the new platform is tremendously better than the old in many ways...it is MUCH easier to crack down on trolls for one thing.

I haven't been this let down
since "IT" was just a Segway Scooter.
There are certainly a lot of benefits (like the reply box and the ability to scroll through posts), but the color scheme just has to go. It seems like every "enhancement" to websites now-a-days are to make them more gaudy with blinking lights and pictures and shades of 15 colors.

Yankees Banned?
Did the Yahoo posts on the Yankee's Prospects thread ruin it for all Yankee fans? I have not seen a Yankees article or reference since.

still would love to see team success analysis
I mentioned this before in one of the call for suggestions, but I would love to see an analysis of which teams have had better success developing their "surefire" prospects, and to what degree the failure of those prospects to develop due to injuries is caused by the team's approach to those prospects. In my mind, the Phillies haven't been able to keep pitchers healthy, including their minor league pitchers, and I don't know if that's a problem with their approach or just bad luck.

Good idea!
And off the top of my head, I'd agree with your assessment of the Phillies, and add to that the Pirates. John, what do you say?

Wish You Were Here
is one of my favorites.
The site will take a little adjustment period to get familiar with it, but I'm sure we will all adjust fine. Hope is works better for all in the long run.

Yankees Banned?
Some rude (Yahoo) Yankee fans gave you a hard time over the grades that you gave to some of the Yankee prospects. I thought that it might have left a bad taste in your mouth.

Oh, that. Nawh. Just didn't seem like there was that much to say that hadn't already been said.

Great song, very nicely done slide show. I loved the picture of the women with the album covers on their backs. What an awesome idea!
