Cut Brackman?
What are the odds he develops any control?

Guys on My top 40 who weren't in yours
Junior Arias
Nick Christiani
Jeremy Horst
Donnie Joseph
Denis Phipps
Josh Ravin
Only Joseph and Arias were inside the Top 25 (post trades) and both were in the 21-25 range.
If you needed to cut a few guys from your list, I would probably start with French, Gerson and Allen.

I agree with Doug on Arias, Horst, Joseph
Phipps and Ravin, as well as the cuts he suggests. I also like reliever Blaine Howell quite a bit.

Doug's list
I agree with Doug accept on Gerson. I think he has been flying under the radar and would really like to see what John has to say about him. Great numbers so far.

I like Gerson
Just not enough to include him in the Top 40.

cuts
I saw Allen in college so I want to include him. I want to write about Stalin for obvious reasons. French seems swappable….I’m thinking both Joseph and Phipps.
I liked Joseph a lot heading into 2011 and Phipps deserves it on performance reasons.

Not of that Stalin, but the message was very clever.

Reds made the wrong trade.
Personally, I think they traded the wrong players. They should’ve traded Votto and let Phillips play out his contract in 2012 and let him walk. Henry Rodriguez’s minor league numbers are very similar to Brandon Phillips. Alonso & Rodriguez would have been affordable for a lot longer and could’ve grown with their other young players. If they don’t make a deep playoff run this year, they’re toast.

Phillips was also one of the best prospects in baseball
Henry isn’t even top ten of this team
@DavefrmLville.....is fun to follow on twiiter!

Henry Rodriguez’s minor league numbers are very similar to Brandon Phillips.
Except that Phillips was a top SS product who’s turned into a GG 2B, and Henry rodriguez will never be either. A great deal of BP’s value is tied to his glove, and Rodriguez has questions about whether he can play every day at any INF position.

amir garrett
I can’t wait to see what he does this upcoming season. Nice late pick by the Reds to say the least.

Sal Romano
I got to see him plenty in HS. Pretty much dominated Connecticut HS ball. Has added some strength which allows him to maintain his stuff. Went 11 IPs in state semis to knock off defending champs. Pretty much FB CB in HS. Stuff is good not great.
Good kid. I am pulling for him. Here is some old video - not the best of angles either.

Jr. Arias and Humberto Valor have to be included.
IMO, any list of the top-40 prospects of Cincy should include these two high-ceiling prospects.
Also, I think you might want to consider Ismael Guillon, Drew Cisco, and Juan Silva over say others like Brackman or Judy. Each has the goods to really surprise with some seasoning.
by wanderinredsfan on Jan 7, 2026 8:31 PM EST reply actions
Given the lack of space and the fact that I am going to have to cut comments already written for players much closer to the majors, it is hard to justify including a guy like Valor who hit .207 with poor peripherals in rookie ball, no matter how high his ceiling is.
Arias is a better candidate.
