Star-divide

The voting breakdown after Perez was: Mark Trumbo 16%, Jemile Weeks 16%, Vance Worley 14%, Lucas Duda 11%, Henderson Alvarez 5%, Jordan Walden 3%, Allen Craig 3%, Lonnie Chisenhall 3%, Danny Duffy 3% (write in), Jose Altuve 3% (write in). No one got 0 votes this round

I'm going to keep the standard at 4%, so Jordan Walden, Allen Craig and Lonnie Chisenhall are all temporarily dropped.. Starting this round, players who are dropped with less than 4% of the vote probably won't return to the ballot again unless they receive multiple votes by write in.

We'll bring back Kyle Drabek, Ben Revere, Mike Carp, Zach Britton and Josh Collmenter this round.

In rotation: Kenley Jansen 0% (round 18), Aaron Crow 0% (round 18), Jose Altuve 0% (round 19), Juan Nicasio 0% (round 19), JD Martinez 0% (round 20), Danny Duffy 0% (round 20), Dayan Viciedo 0% (round 20), Ivan Nova 0% (round 20), Alex Cobb 0% (round 20), Jordan Walden 3% (round 21), Allen Craig 3% (round 21), Lonnie Chisenhall 3% (round 21)

We'll give Dee Gordon his first time on the ballot this round, leaving as possible future testers:

Jordan Lyles, Jerry Sands, Craig Gentry, Al Alberquerque, Tyler Chatwood, Kyle Seager, Eric Thames and Greg Holland.

With just a few rounds left it's clear that most of the players on the possible testers list won't get a chance to get on the ballot. Help me decide which of them to put on the ballot by listing your three favorite testers from the list immediately above or who we haven't even listed yet.

As always voting is by +1 and there are places below to vote for players not currently on the ballot.

So who is your number 22 prospect for future performance among last year's rookies?

Dee Gordon is an interesting player

I gave him a hard time as a prospect a year ago but, I was more impressed with him than I thought I’d be. I thuink he’s a guy who is going to be a big league regular and, a popular player, because he is exciting and flashy but, perhaps not a really valuable player - compared to his popularity at least. To me there is nothing separating him and Ben Revere. They both bring joy, speed, defense, and empty batting average to the table. I think they will both have solid careers though.

My last four for this list are Danny Duffy, Jose Altuve, Jemile Weeks, Dee Gordon and Ben Revere

I said it before, but Trumbo over Weeks is silly.

Seriously guys, do you want the second baseman with a .340 OBP or a first baseman with a .291 OBP? Plus, Jemile’s middle name is Nykiwa. That’s awesome.

RIP Greg Halman

OBP is not the end all be all though

I wrote before about the value of Trumbo, and how I’d rather have other players, using his OBP as an argument against him. However, it’s not just one stat that matters. After all, Trumbo does the best thing you can do in baseball (HR) by a ratio of 29:2 in this case. Age was also a case against Trumbo in other cases, but Weeks is just a year younger. Not saying Trumbo is better or worse than Weeks, it’s actually close in my book. Just that OBP is not the only thing that matters (not that you meant that necessarily).

Good points

Mark Trumbo has been savaged a little unfairly (& in a simplistic manner) by some folks who don’t have much to go on besides the OBP of a rookie (one who had a higher ISO than Joey Votto by the way). Nice job.
