Chicago White Sox Organization Discussion
I am now working on the New York Mets top prospect list. The next team in line is the Chicago White Sox, to be followed by the Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees, and San Francisco Giants.
Use this thread to discuss the White Sox farm system. As always, feel free to point out sleepers or players you feel are overlooked. This system has been regarded as thin for awhile, although there are some players of interest. Chris Sale had a good rookie season and should continue to perform strongly. Addison Reed was outstanding. Is he ready to close?
How quickly will they push newly-acquired Nestor Molina? If you took over the White Sox today, what would be your strategy to build the farm system, given the new CBA and Chicago's traditional unwillingness under Kenny Williams to invest huge sums in the draft? Will the new CBA help or hurt you? Can you get anything better out of Latin America?

Beckham
what a gigantic flop this kid has been…
John is there any silver lining on him or should we pretty much lock him up as “he is who he is”… basically a MI Utility type?

I wouldn’t consider Beckham a gigantic flop, but he’s certainly disappointed since his solid rookie season.

I think his defense is the silver lining.
He’s been quite good in the field despite his struggles at the plate.

Jon Bachanov
Obviously he’s a low end guy, but I think he’s an interesting prospect still. He was cut by the Angels for who-knows-what after struggling a bit over 26 innings in 2010 (not ALL that horribly either). After being picked up by the White Sox, he looks promising again. They are apparently trying him as a starter now too. He is a former 1st round supplemental pick, and might be finally on the right track after TJ surgery. I haven’t seen a recent scouting report on him in a while though.

he was starting in the second half of last season because he was a 22 year old who had thrown about 60 innings since he was drafted in 2007.

Well
I’m sure that factored in quite a bit. You never know where it will lead though.

guys with his injury history are not starters.
and he also doesn’t have anything other than a fastball and slider.
