Rating last year's rookies- Community Prospect #2
The results are in and the rookie from last year's class who we think has the best future ahead of him is Brett Lawrie. Actually makes me kind of sad as a reminder that while I won my fantasy league this year I had to trade Lawrie to do it, a price I will regret paying for many years to come. But I digress
1. Brett Lawrie 3b Toronto Blue Jays
The voting breakdown for the first round was Lawrie 51%, Hosmer 26%, Hellickson 9%, Pineda 9%, Kimbrel 3%, Jennings 3%, Moustakas, Freeman, Ackley, Kipnis, Chapman and Sale all at 0%.
I'm going to leave on the ballot everyone who got a vote and I'm also going to give Ackley and Kipnis another chance to show some support. Moustakas, Freeman, Chapman and Sale come off the ballot for a short time. We'll try adding Paul Goldschmidt, Wilson Ramos and Jordan Walden to the ballot for now.
That leaves as likely testers for the next few rounds, Kyle Drabek, Mark Trumbo, Jemile Weeks, Danny Espinosa, Zach Britton and Dominic Brown.
If you want to vote for someone who isn't on the ballot, or you want to propose testers for coming rounds you can do that below. to register your vote just put a +1 immediately underneath the player you are voting for.
so, who is your #2 prospect for future performance among last year's rookies?

Freeman definitely needs to be on the list next though, I’d be torn between him and Pineda for #3

A little ahead of Jennings for me. I believe in Hosmer, but he is going to have to hit extremely well, imo, to get past guys who can defend like Ackley and Jennings.

I feel a little forced to do this only because… did people really not pay attention to Ackley? Really, behind Kimbrel, and dare I say it, Pineda?

Freeman
I mean he’s basically the same age as Hosmer and hit every bit as well this past season. I understand sticking with Hosmer in front of him because of his higher ranking coming into 2011, but he obviously deserves to be on the voting list over some of the other options.

Henderson Alvarez?
Should probably be top 5 for those that think his slider will become a + pitch. Will split the community though i’m guessing.

I'll put Freeman back next round
Hosmer did so much better than him last round that it seemed safe to take him off for 1 round. But he’ll be right back along with Moustakas. Chapman probably the round after that. As for Duffy he is qualified for the list, but given the season he had it’s hard to imagine him getting any serious consideration before Hellickson and Pineda. I’ll add him to the list of testers.

Opponents hit .209/.274/.335 (7th best ops in NL amongst pitchers with 120+ innings) while striking out 10/9. His ops against places him between Cliff Lee and Tim Hudson. His opponent average in that regard is 2nd to only Clayton Kershaw while his K/9 is 3rd.
