Friday Night Ship Blogging
This is so cool I just had to post it: actual contemporary color footage of the submarine USS Cod trying to rescue the Dutch submarine O19, stranded on a reef, towards the end of the Second World War.

The world is our toilet
The 019 is probably still leaking oil. And to think that some people are shocked by the Gulf oil spill.

interesting response
We could go back to wooden ships, but that would despoil the forest, I suppose.

O19
The part that gets me is that the crew of the O19 spent almost FIVE YEARS in their ship. Granted there would be occasional shore leaves, but that is a long long time to spend in a small submarine with limited habitability.
