Last Night Notables:

Randall Delgado- 6.2IP 5HA 1ER 8K’s 2BB -2.0 GO/AO
On the year he has 15BB in 72 IP’s, outstanding peripherals all around…

Aaron Miller- 6IP 5HA 3ER 7K’s 3BB -3.5 GO/AO
Still win-less on the year, not that it matters at all, think he may be ready for the jump to AA. Been working around 93-96 has the wipe-out slide piece and been making steady progress with the change.

I heard 91-94 last year

93-96 for a LHP would be pretty huge though. I don’t know if I believe that will hold

The Braves are *stacked* with arms

It’ll be interesting to see if they make a move to cash in some of those arms to add some offense during the year. It’s not like they have a barren major league rotation with open spots that all these prospects can fill….

I think Jair Jurrjens is the first arm to go if they do end up making a move

He’s a Boras client and still has a lot of value. I just don’t see them dealing away one of the big three young arms in their system.

Gordon

The Royals do not plan on recalling Gordon anytime soon, the Kansas City Star reports. General manager Dayton Moore said Friday that “there are some things offensively with his swing that he’s working on.”

It should be surprising, but it really isn’t anymore…

Can anyone tell me what sort of stuff he has? What sort of ceiling he’s got? I’ve read back of the rotation type pitcher - are all the strikeouts just a men vs boys situation?

This was the report I got from Jason Grey-he had not personally seen Furbush, but talked to a scout that had:

“Tommy John in 08, and old for his level (scout was surprised he was back at Lakeland this year). 88-91, fringe average CH, decent CB, throws strikes”

Had one scout tell me last week he’s the best 18-year-old hitter he’s seen since Manny Ramirez. And another said he’s the best minor-league player he’s seen, or will see, all year. More walks than strikeouts for his minor-league career, and he’s still a teenager. Clearly a guy to watch.
