Florida Marlins Preliminary Prospect List

Preliminary list for the Marlins after the jump.

This system has an obvious top core with Stanton, James, Morrison, Dominguez, but after that things thin out quickly and there's a bunch of Grade C types who seem pretty interchangable to me.

Cooper’s worth writing about.

cooper

I doubt he’ll hit but I can see it.

He was a little unlucky in rookie ball.

And he was fairly patient. He’s got some good things to work with, considering he didn’t turn 18 until October.

cregar

Cregar is pretty old….I can see cooper being more interesting.

How about Luis Bryan or Robert Bono?

Bryan has a pretty decent year (small sample size) in the GCL. Bono seems like the weaker prospect, but there must be something to those guys if the Marlins traded a low cost reliever in Lindstrom to get them, right?

eh

hmm…..well bryan somehow hit .340 while walking zero times in 106 at-bats. That’s at least interesting, lol.

Bono…great control but very low K rate and hittable.

i'm not really pushing hard for them or anything.

i just thought they might have slipped through the cracks.

by auclairkeithbc on Jan 9, 2026 2:13 PM EST up reply actions

yeah

Yeah, quick check of scouting reports is pretty negative about both of them

by John Sickels on Jan 9, 2026 2:14 PM EST up reply actions

thanks

but thanks for pointing them out, because I did forget about that trade.

Did Maybin get enough at bats to graduate from prospect status? I hadn’t looked.

by Cormican on Jan 9, 2026 7:52 PM EST reply actions

yeah

yeah he is no longer eligible

what about Cishek?

Steven Cishek definitely needs to be added (have him as C+ prospect). Some other guys I think should be added are E.Olmos(2010 breakout candidate), T.Khoeler, T. Wood, J. Buente, and G.Johnson(electric arm and very projectable).

I would drop G.Taylor, Wade, Cregar, Jensen, Montgomery, Ramos.

list

I agree about Olmos and Chisek.

Johnson’s numbers are terrible but I will look more closely at him. I’ve already added Buente, while Wade, Cregar, and Mongtomery have been dropped.

Galloway still much of a prospect?

It’s been just a season but his plate approach needs serious improvement.
