Take off

peters, maybe treinen (even though he does have good stuff)

add richard (good obp, solid top of the order players) or gregory paulino, or brent powers (solid lefty, fitting beane’s mold of bulldog-ish players), and i don’t know how you feel about andres avila, he was a little old for rookie ball, but those numbers really jump out

richard

I saw Richard in 2010 but not in ‘11. I wasn’t too impressed with him. I don’t think he’ll hit enough

by John Sickels on Jan 8, 2026 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

just relooked up richard's stats

yeah, you’re probably right on him, he just looking at the basic numbers, seems like a solid leadoff type if he can increase the walk rate a bit

Also

chris bostick put up really good numbers, but i’d give him a full season before putting him down

Drew granier

Old for his leagues but he just got drafted and had impressive k and era numbers

granier

i was looking at him but i don’t like the BB spike in the NYP league

cuts

Although I like both of them, I am going to have to cut both Bostick and Peters. Not enough room

by John Sickels on Jan 8, 2026 3:32 PM EST reply actions

how about gregory paulino?

made the jump to the states at age 18, didn’t put up great numbers in the AZL, but was still young for it

paulino

he’s interesting. I might get him in. depends.

by John Sickels on Jan 8, 2026 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

and maybe

cut walz, good overall, but was old for the leagues he played in

walz

except walz is a guy i got to see in person many times so I am more familiar with him. If it comes to picking between Grade C, the guy I have seen more myself gets an edge

I know our system isnt that good, but that seems harsh.

"BA doesn't stand for Batting Average. It’s Brandon Allen, as in the percentage of a hitter’s worth compared to Brandon Allen. Ted Williams, at his best, was only 4/10th of the hitter Brandon Allen is today." - YonYonson

You know what i meant.

Figueroa

Cut Pedro Figueroa? 26y.o. has never pitched above AA & hasn’t done much at all last two years, due to injury. But on the other hand, he’s still got a 40 man roster slot.

by dskidmorehess on Jan 8, 2026 3:45 PM EST reply actions

No Ynoa?

I know he’s been out with TJS, but he doesn’t even make top 40 off of potential upside?

by stranahanahan on Jan 8, 2026 4:07 PM EST reply actions

to me, he's the same as bostick

i think he’d need a full season before putting him down on lists

Hello, i am inigo montoya, you took my stadium, prepare to die

ynoa

it is a waste of space to write about him right now….the report would just read “he has a really good arm but no one knows what will happen after the long layoff”

by John Sickels on Jan 8, 2026 4:13 PM EST up reply actions

That's fair

hopefully he’ll come back with a vengeance this year…

by stranahanahan on Jan 8, 2026 4:29 PM EST up reply actions

just curious

what grade straily would get, me being very biased, i want to see him as a B-

Hello, i am inigo montoya, you took my stadium, prepare to die

by guessatomo on Jan 8, 2026 4:09 PM EST reply actions

Numbers are there for a B- or even a B

All depends on the scouting reports. He seems to have a potentially average fastball. Does he have offspeed pitches which can be above-average? If so, he could be a #2 starter; if not, it’s unlikely unless he develops elite control.

"We don't want our people to be preoccupied with seminude, crazy men jumping up and down who are chasing an inflated object," said Sheik Mohamed Osman Arus, head of operations for the Hizbul Islam insurgent group.

by PaulThomas on Jan 8, 2026 6:43 PM EST up reply actions

His breaking stuff is apparently pretty good

and i’d say a fastball that averages 93-95 is a little above average, not elite, but still pretty good, and his changeup was finally a dependable pitch this year

giving up only 40 walks in 160+ innings shows at least above average control, and the 43% grounder rate and giving up only 10 home runs shows an ability to keep the ball down and get grounders

Hello, i am inigo montoya, you took my stadium, prepare to die

by guessatomo on Jan 8, 2026 7:17 PM EST up reply actions

I wouldn't judge his fastball solely on velocity

What kind of movement does it generate?

by stranahanahan on Jan 8, 2026 8:19 PM EST up reply actions

good point

that i do not know, tried looking it up but couldn’t find anything

HaHa

This shouldn’t take long. . . . . you’ve already graded & written up half of them, just with their previous teams!

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.

Where do you think Jorge Soler would

fit into this farm system should he get signed by Oakland?

by green_and_gold on Jan 8, 2026 6:00 PM EST reply actions

soler

I haven’t studied him enough to know

by John Sickels on Jan 8, 2026 6:01 PM EST up reply actions

what a stunning dearth of middle infield prospects

I don’t think Yordy is even really an SS. The system has some strong points, but it’s awfully homogenous - lots of RHPs, corner OFs, and 3Bs.

by jdr on Jan 8, 2026 6:02 PM EST reply actions

agreed, they have a serious lack of MI talent above low A

except connor crumbliss, who’s an obp machine (seriously never had an obp lower than .404)

they have a lot of talent in the lower minors though: jamieson, pan, possibly bostick (if that small sample wasn’t a total fluke), solano (who had a down year mostly because coaches told him to be more aggresive) and peralta

Hello, i am inigo montoya, you took my stadium, prepare to die

by guessatomo on Jan 8, 2026 6:14 PM EST up reply actions

I'm pretty sure Solano had a down year because he just can't hit a baseball

Talk about a nonfactor. If his arm is any good, I’d convert him to pitching.

Jermaine Mitchell

is more of a feel good story, i don’t consider him a true prospect considering how old he is

i do think he’ll be passable in the majors though

some young names to look for next year

shawn duinkerk
rashad ramsey
andy paz
andres avila
michael soto
jensi peralta

Hello, i am inigo montoya, you took my stadium, prepare to die

by guessatomo on Jan 8, 2026 7:19 PM EST reply actions

Adds/Cuts

I’d add:
- Josh Whitaker - Had a 300/400/500 slash line in 2011 in a pitchers’ league, and was only slightly old for Lo-A
- Rashaun Dixon - Lots of talent, plate discipline needs a lot of work, but only 21 y/o at Hi-A.

I’d cut:
- Carignan - Good K rate but 25 y/o, 5’11" righty RP, has 5 MiLB seasons but only 150 IP, including only 16.7 IP at AAA.
- Donaldson - 26 y/o now, would seem to project as a MLB backup.
- Figueroa - 26 y/o, no time above AAA, and only 2 IP last year.

by rhd on Jan 8, 2026 10:01 PM EST reply actions

agreed on the cuts

plus i’d cut peters and treinen, and although he had an amazing year last year, i don’t get why mitchell is put on these lists, he’s just way too old to be considered a prospect

Hello, i am inigo montoya, you took my stadium, prepare to die

by guessatomo on Jan 8, 2026 10:16 PM EST up reply actions

peters has been cut. Treinen has not.

I know about Dixon’s tools but i’ve never seen any evidence he can play. He’s young though

by John Sickels on Jan 8, 2026 10:24 PM EST up reply actions

to be honest

i never even heard about carignan before this year haha not saying he should or shouldn’t be on the list

Hello, i am inigo montoya, you took my stadium, prepare to die

by guessatomo on Jan 8, 2026 10:26 PM EST up reply actions

carignan

I’ve been tracking him since college and he’s been in the book before. Plausable middle reliever who can help now.

Dixon is in the book by the way.

by John Sickels on Jan 8, 2026 11:18 PM EST up reply actions

i see next year as two outcomes for dixon

him turning in a destin hood-like season

or him becoming sort of matt sulentic-ish

i just hope he turns out to be like destin hood

Agreed on the cuts and the adds

I especially agree on Dixon. Love his upside.

big time decrease, for me anyway.

not even top ten for me at this point.

His bat still keeps him in the top ten right?

And if he’s a CF it’s still a defensive position. He wasn’t supposed to be a Gold Glove SS. Is there something with his bat you’re not liking?

I'd replace Carnigan with Dusty Coleman (!)

I still like Parker a top

1. Parker
2. Choice
3. Cole
4. Peacock
5. Gray
6. Green
7. Norris
8. Milone
9. Carter
10. Y. Cabrera
11. Crocker
12. Shipman

That's a pretty good list

I’m starting to look at the A’s farm system and actually like what I’m seeing!

by OnlybuyBeaneJerseys on Jan 9, 2026 4:57 AM EST up reply actions

Mine looks like this

1. Choice (Take away his Ks and he’s an A prospect in my book)
2. J. Parker
3. Cole (Highest upside of the pitchers)
4. Peacock
5. Gray
6. Carter (Don’t write him off yet, he always struggle adjusting to new leagues)
7. Green (he’d be number 3 if he could play SS)
8. Krol (he’s performed at every level despite his lack of gifts, future number 3 starter)
9. Norris (don’t like his Ave but I like his pop and Defense)
10. Y. Cabrera (Love his tools)
11. Stassi (AN thinks he’s overrated, I don’t because he’s still young with tons of upside)
12. Shipman
13. Milone (he’s performed but has a low ceiling)
14. Renato Nunez (Between him and parker the A’s should have a long term solution. Parker having the higher probability of making it, Nunez being the potential superstar.)
15. S. Parker

I commented where I believe my order differs from consensus.

I love toolsy guys and he's toolsy from what I've read

Though I still don’t know enough about him. Thanks for giving me a prospect to put on my radar.
