Best site to run a fantasy league

First off, I want to let everyone know that this isn't the correct venue to ask this question, but I've come to value the majority of your opinions and feel more comfortable hearing what you guys have to offer than most other sites I frequent.

I currently participate in an NL-only, salary keeper league in which we can carry 7 minor leaguers.  We use CBSsportsline to manage everything.  I was wondering what everyone's experience is with other sites.  Sportsline is OK, don't get me wrong, but there are a few things that erk the maintainer and we're looking to make a change.

What's your favorite fantasy league management site and why?  Please make sure you consider our leagues needs before answering.

Thanks.

has been the easiest interface, both from a participant, and from a commissioner’s standpoint. Although it is expensive, $50/team, it provides all the uses one could need….

but but

then you will miss out on the botched up CBS scouting reports… i guess if you’re more into the whole baseball thing and not so much into the funny part of paid “professional” writers screwing things up on a daily basis….

I’m sorry… I like CBS. I do get frustrated at times however.

cbs writing

is amazing, truly in a league of it’s own, surely those morons are interning and going to be serious CBS news journalists or something, because no chance they know anything about baseball

CBShit

as I like to refer to them in writing. Need something fixed? Good luck. At this point in the season, whips of 1.31 and 1.31 can be significantly separated but does cbshit care? Of course not. In fact, we had a tie(!!) in the category the other morning. How the f.uck, at 1000 innings in and two teams separated by 150 innings can their be a tie on the standings page in the whip category?!

They leave numerous players available in the free agent bin when the player has been in the minors for weeks or months or out of baseball altogether.

They place at least 2 or 3 players in positions each year when the player has NEVER played the position in his entire major or minor league career.

We were forced to endure another increase in price this past spring only to see a FORCED view of advertisement as well?

kershaw may get frustrated at times but I have a permanant hate on for this service. How I wish my league didn’t want to use them…

by tuna411 on Aug 26, 2025 4:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Ok

First. WHIPS separating. That’s apparently only in your league. In my league they go out three decimal points. Maybe you actually DID have a tie.

Second. Why wouldn’t they be in the free agent bin? Are they supposed to delete players? I don’t get your point.

Third. Not true. Cite an example. They list them at their main position in the minors and then make adjustments based on the games they’ve played in the majors

Fourth. Use Mozilla. No ads

Fifth. I think everyone else is right and you are wrong. Sportsline is awesome. The deeper and more complex the league, the better. ESPN isn’t as good, but is free. If you just have a vanilla league, then Yahoo/ESPN are fine.

NOT ok

4 decimal places in and the numbers were different. In fact, it is LONGER odds of having EXACTLY the same whip between two teams at 1000 innings and 150 innings apart then winning the lotto. Just 2 seasons ago, cbshit showed 3 places on the standings sheet, prior to that, 4 places. For what ever reason, they now show just two. I have requested 6 times to go back to at least 3….DENIED.

The free agents I am referring to are shown as ACTIVE MAJOR LEAGUERS…which they are not. Admittedly, they are better THIS year but still they have left several players active. And it may mean little to you but my league annually has a pot of $16,000…we need accuracy thank you very much.

Julio Borbon…dh only
Billy Butler…outfield only

That is two that come immediately to mind.

Why should I have to use anything to block out ads when our league paid almost $200?

Yes, cbshit has some nice features but customer service is not one of them.

Care to send me a pic of your league standing page with three decimal places???

by tuna411 on Aug 26, 2025 5:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The "standings"

Have it as two decimal places. The live scoring has it three decimal places, which is what informs the standings. No, it’s not longer odds of winning the lottery to have the same amount of hits/walks in the same amount of innings. In 4 years of my league’s standings, we don’t have a tie in either OPS, ERA, or WHIP.

Billy Butler is available only as a 1B in my league since he played 100+ games at 1B this year and 40+ last year. Borbon is eligible only at CF in my league. Methinks your commissioner has screwed something up with your options.

You should use Mozilla because it’s infinitely better than Explorer. It’s got nothing to do with ads.

You insisting on adding …“shit” to your wacky naming scheme doesn’t add anything.

by Galt on Aug 26, 2025 5:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

your live standings show 3?

Mine show 2 places as does the standings page.

Jeff Larish is another player who comes to mind as having a ‘wrong’ positional listing.

Again, why should I have to use ANYTHING to block ads? We paid almost $200 for content, not advertisements.

And I’ll ask again, can you supply a snapshot of your standings showing 3 decimal places?

by tuna411 on Aug 26, 2025 7:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ben zobrist is another

In fact it caused an issue in our league for the auction. When inquiring, they told me he played 21 games at outfield last year. I linked SIX different sites which showed 19.

Not an apology, just a ’we’ll have someone look into it’.

by tuna411 on Aug 26, 2025 7:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Different

Not sure if this link works, but here it is. You can clearly see that Sportsline tracks to three decimal points on ERA and WHIP

Regarding Larish, he played more games at 3B last year in the pros, thus he qualified at 3B. He has now played 10 at 1B and qualifies there too.

Borbon played CF in the minors last year, so that’s his default on Sportsline even though he has played more LF this year. Next year, his default will be LF.

I again, think that your problems with positional eligibility are due to the settings your commissioner has chosen, and not Sportsline. Since Sportsline, unlike everyone else is completely customizable.

And if the people in your league didn’t look at the positions Zobrist qualified according to Sportsline before the auction, for a league held on Sportsline, then that’s just baffling.

Finally, you paid nearly $200 for the entire league for over 7 months. Split among 12 people. That’s $2.40 per month per person. I spend over $150 a month on cable per month and that has ads. Where’s the hysteria about that?

by Galt on Aug 26, 2025 10:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

also, fyi

I can look at all of your comments and devise two things

1) your commish is lying and skimming on the entry fee, it isn’t near $200 TRUST ME
2) you are an idiot for not understanding THIS and several other stupid things you basically either just lied about or couldn’t understand…

by IHateMitchMustain on Aug 26, 2025 11:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

borbon

he is an “of” in my lineup from the day he started for the rangers, so I’m not sure what that comment is, maybe your commissioner is cheating or you are an idiot?

use the “commissioner” league since that is basically what this post is asking, cbs is great, it’s about $100 a year for a whole league, we keep our whole team every year and make all of our own rules and we “create” milb players if they aren’t on the database

if there is a problem we email them and they fix it within 24 hours ALWAYS, if you have a problem then it is completely your league’s fault since you aren’t doing what you can to fix it

also you are playing rotissiere chicken or whatever and that is a clear sign of lack of intelligence anyway

by IHateMitchMustain on Aug 26, 2025 11:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You are a tough guy

sitting behind your monitor.

Douchbag, why don’t you pop your pimples and get out in the real world instead?

Nobody has yet to show me 3 decimal places on the standings page. And larish was dh only entering this season, butler outfield only entering last year, zobrist of eligible entering this year.

Do you idiots think that eventually, after what I am sure are many inquiries, they don’t get around to fixing this stuff?

And I know it cost ~$189 for cbs this year because I paid it. I have no idea what mustain is talking about, he must be an idiot…

by tuna411 on Aug 27, 2025 9:29 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nobody said it was on the standings page

I said Sportsline tracks it and shows it, making it nearly impossible for there to be ties.

But regardless, you had a bunch of bitches about Sportsline. I’ve shown that the bulk of Sportline’s errors are actually you being a dumb ass.

So while I’m trying to be nice and show you, clearly an inexperienced lad, regarding the awesomeness of Sportsline, you continue to swear and call people names.

So basically, fuck off.

There are plenty of examples of CBS listing players where they shouldn't qualify

They had Chris Coghlan and Michael Saunders as 3B this season (Coghlan played 10 games at 3B in AA last year and over 100 at 2B, Saunders has never played 3B as far as I can tell), they added Neftali Soto and Allen Craig as SS even though both have played a combined grand total of 8 games there in the minors — I am willing to bet that if/when both make the majors CBS owners will get one year of SS eligibility out of them.

That’s just what I can think of from players that I’ve seen this year, but it happens every year. We had to put language in our league constitution that allows the commish to override the standard CBS position for players that are incorrectly classified. It wouldn’t be so bad if they corrected erroneous classifications by the time minor league players reach the majors, but they seem to never do that.

I really like the CBS platform, but their “content” is pretty poor.

Wrong positions

We actually had this problem in our league for CBS. They list Daniel Bard as an SP, when he didn’t start in the minors this year or last year. It’s nothing major, except our league has both SP and RP, so it caused problems.

by DJSlam on Aug 27, 2025 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You and our league administrator should get together for a drink or 5. Sounds like you both need it.

They really are pretty terrible. All he wants is the waiver wire request list from this past week so he can square away some confusion, but they haven’t gotten back to him…IN TWO DAYS!!! I’d understand if this were a free site, but we paid something like $160 to register the league. Robbery if you ask me.

Has anyone used the pay-for Yahoo service? Just wondering if it allows you to separate minor leaguers from your major league roster and whether or not it will track contracts for you.

by rutgersjpm on Aug 26, 2025 4:59 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No, it does not

As someone who runs two salary cap based dynasty leagues one a standard Yahoo league and one a Yahoo Plus League, I see absolutely no difference. One of the guys in my league last year decide to pay for the Plus upgrade for the whole league. I wasn’t sure I wanted to do pay for it this year, but to be able to link to the previous two seasons of the league I had to. I won’t spend the money next year though, I’ll just put the three years worth of data on our league website instead.

Not sure how much work the commish in your league wants to put in it, but I handle the payrolls for each team in a spreadsheet, updated every 2-3 weeks and e-mailed to the league for add/drops, DL Replacement costs, trades. Doesn’t cost anything to do, just takes an hour of work every couple of weeks. We use mlbcontracts.blogspot.com for the salary info, they’re very good at what they do and get things updated quickly in the offseason once contracts are signed. For the minor league portion, I use a proboards.com site, very easy to setup as you want and again there is no cost.

Yahoo added keeper features for this year which is nice, and they’re doing free live scoring for football so hopefully they do the same with baseball next spring.

Not sure if any of this helps, but it’s always another option to try.

RIP Nick Adenhart

your commish is probably lying

i’ve never had this problem is 8 years, also you could easily “prove” the list by looking at the “transactions” history and back-tracking, and using logic to see what the standings were, but either way, they would be able to give you that and once again, use commish and solve your own problems

by IHateMitchMustain on Aug 26, 2025 11:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't understand

Why would they delete players who have been in the minors for a few weeks?

by aCone419 on Aug 26, 2025 5:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The Worldwide Leader

It’s usually en vogue to hate ESPN but I have to say they really have their stuff together.
I’m co-commish on an 18 team dynasty points league with 40 roster spots (+8 DL) and I haven’t had hardly any trouble or sticky situations. Best of all, it’s free.

The only issue is they don’t have many low-minors guys listed but we just use retired players as stand-ins until they’re added to the database.

Good luck finding a new home.

one of my favorites from cbs

On Brandon Morrow- Analysis: Morrow is hopefully only getting sent down because the Rangers don’t need a fifth starter until July 25. He is 0-4 with a 5.28 ERA this season with the Mariners in 22 games with six starts. Hopefully Morrow will work on some things in Triple-A and return better than he was before he got sent down. He is worth hanging on to in AL-only and deeper mixed league formats.

amongst many confused comments asking if he got traded to the Rangers there was one comment that stood out.

In a related story, it has been reported that the Expos will not need a fifth starter until August 17 so they were able to make room for newly acquired DH, Hakeem Olajuwon. Monitor his progress before adding him to NFC-only leagues. He has a 3 handicap, 78.5 rushing yds/game, and 2.7 goals/g. (by chicagoRokstar 07/12/2025 11:51 pm EST)
