Did they just need an arm in OKC?

So I guess Ramirez didnt have any major shoulder problems, right?

by alskor on Jun 5, 2025 1:07 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, because of Hunter' spot start.

and shoulder problems? NeRa hurt his pitching elbow in the spring (non-pitching related injury) and that’s only injury I can remember.

Go Rangers...don't suck...

I thought someone said on here...

that he was being held back in the spring with shoulder soreness…

Maybe I got it wrong. Either way, good news.

Seems to be hitting for pretty nice power

That seemed to be a question mark before the year.

by alskor on Jun 5, 2025 1:49 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

technically

Weeks hit that HR yesterday. The game was suspended after 14 innings and completed today. High Desert won, 7-6 in 21 innings.

Aumont

He was moved to closer at the beginning of the year.
0-2 29IP 3.10 30K 11BB 10SV
Had a rough 4 game stretch in mid May but has looked great other then that.

Closer???

Anyone think Todd will take over closer duties in STL before the end of the season? The guy is dynamite.

by jepmotors on Jun 5, 2025 1:54 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think he would have to get in line...

Once they put Motte back in the closer role- its his to lose. When I see Motte I think Jenks slightly light.

by rookie319s on Jun 5, 2025 5:13 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Who knows...

What LaRussa would do if Franklin falls apart. It’s too bad he doesn’t still have Aaron Miles around cause he’d probably throw him in the mix, too. But, seriously, Motte has been very effective since his first two outings of the season. If you take those two appearences out his line looks pretty spectacular, actually: 21.1 innings, 10 hits, 8 walks, 18 strikeouts, 3 earned runs.

by ajake57 on Jun 6, 2025 12:24 AM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

oh yes...

Motte wasnt great last night… But I do…For you Rockies Fans Dexter Fowler had a 11 pitch walk off of Motte last night that wasa truly great at bat. And his homer was a shot too…

Dan Hudson

The last 3 MILB Threads have Dan Hudson pitching. Yet he hasn’t pitched….anyone got any insight into that?

Cubs so far

Daytona down 1-0 so far to Charlotte.

Casnher’s night is done. 3 ip, 3 h, 1 bb, 2 K’s. Solid enough outing. 5/2 GO/FO rate. a balk.

Tony Campana and Starlin Castro are both 2/3, and both with a SB so far.

Peoria up 2-0 on Beloit.

Chris Carpenter had a rough outing last time out, but looks solid so far. 4 ip, 3 h, 1 bb, 3 k’s. 6/2 GO/FO.

2 run shot from Michael Brenly.

Tenneessee down 2-0 to Chattanooga so far.

Marcos Mateo - 6ip, 4 h, 2 r, 4 bb, 1 k, 1 hr (accouting for the 2 runs)

Iowa up on Nashville so far, 1-0

Kevin Hart - 2 ip, 1bb, 3 K’s.

by toonsterwu on Jun 5, 2025 8:50 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Let's see

Tennessee came back to win 5-2 against Chattanooga. 2 shutout innings for Jayson Ruhlman (1 BB) got the win, with John Gaub getting the save with a K.

James Adduci - 3/4, R, 2B, RBI, K. Too bad he doesn’t have much power.
Marquez Smith - 2/4, R, K.
Tyler Colvin - 1/1, R, RBI. So far so good, I guess.
Darwin Barney - 3/4, R, 2B, 2 RBI. Keeping up a solid offensive year.
Brandon Guyer - 0/4, BB, K. The struggles continue.
Welington Castillo - 0/2. See above comment.
Tony Thomas - 0/2, R, BB, K. The collapse continues.
Blake Lalli - 1/4, RBI. Struggles continue.

Peoria beat Beloit 5-1.

Chris Carpenter - 5 ip, 5 h, 1 bb, 4 K’s.
Ryan Buchter - 2 ip, 1 h, 2 K’s, WP. We got him for Matt Avery … I’m pleased so far.

Junior Lake, Josh Harrison, Ryan Flaherty - 1/4 each. Lake 3 K’s, Flaherty RBI and a K.
Josh Vitters - 1/3, 2B, BB, K, SB.
Kyler Burke - 1/3, 2 R, 2B, BB, K. Here’s hoping he gets it going - because of his hot start, I don’t think many Cubs fans have realized how he’s really tumbled of late.
Rebel Ridling - 2/4, R, K. A little surge after a big slump.
Nelson Perez - 1/2, R, 2B, BB, K.
Michael Brenly - 1/2, R, HR, 3 RBI.
Drew Rundle - 1/3, 2B, RBI, K. Wish him the best, but some Cubs fans really overhyped him this past offseason off of basically a good month in Boise last year.

Daytona

Just realized Daytona went up against former Cubs farmhand Darin Downs, he of 5 walks on the year.

Daytona scores 5 in the 9th to win 6-1.

Luke Sommer - 3 ip, 2 h, bb, 4 K’s.
Tony Campana - 3/5, 1 R, 2 SB. Sure hope he can keep moving up the ladder … would love that speed at the top of the Cubs lineup.
Starlin Castro - 2/3, 2 R, BB, 2 SB. I think he should get more attention for what he’s done this year. Arizona to Daytona, and the bat is looking good. Still a work in progress, but awesome as a Cubs fan.
Jovan Rosa - 2/4, 1 R, 3B, 3 RBI, BB, 2 K. My biggest disappointment so far. Keep hoping he can get it going. When he’s on, that’s a sweet stroke, and he’s got some power potential.
Jericho Jones - 2/3, 2B. Sweet.

by toonsterwu on Jun 5, 2025 10:25 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Iowa beats Nashville 2-1

Hart end up giving up 5 bb and 1 h in 5 ip. Did notch 5 K’. WP.
Justin Berg - 2.1 ip, 1 r, 2 bb, 2 K’s, WP. Neal Cotts - .2 ip.
Blake Parker - Save, 1 h, 1 bb, 1 ip.
Steve Clevenger - 1/4.
Doug Deeds - 2/4, 2B, K.

Zach McAllister

How far can he go?

7.0IP 4H 4K’s zeros in others so far. dropping his ERA to 1.63

Newman says he won’t be called up to AAA for awhile though; Nova, who’ll start tomorrow, has more chance to be called up to AAA than Zach McAttack right now

love him

always have. mid-rotation prospects get overhyped or underhyped, and I think Zach is seriously underhyped. No, he’s not likely to be an elite starter in the bigs, but a solid mid-rotation option that can eat innings goes for a ton of money in FA and having that type of guy in the system is critical.

I was at the game last night

Holt pitched just like his scouting reports coming into the season. Nice easy motion throwing his fastball with pretty good command; most were at 91 MPH, there were a good amount at 93~94 and hit he 95 and 97 once each, and he was holding his velocity into the 7th inning. His change-up was pretty effective, usually about 85 MPH without a whole lot of movement, but he was using it well mixing it off of his fastball.

The breaking ball was not working last night though. He tossed some nice enough curves while warming up between innings, but he didn’t have control of it in game action. It also didn’t look to have a whole lot of vertical break.

Just one game obviously, but it seems there’s still a fair amount of work to do if he’s going to move up as a starter.

Realistically he’s probably going to mostly be Jim Thome’s replacement as DH. But he can hit enough to do that. I think he has 40 HR potential.

Q: If on-base pct is so important then why don't they put it on the scoreboard? -Failcoeur

A: Because the Braves don't want to show their fans how bad you suck.

Buster Posey

Just hit a walkoff homer in the bottom of the 13th.

2-5, hr, rbi, bb, so

Plate discipline has been improving, drawing a lot more walks as of late.

Kevin Mulvey

Watched him closely again tonight. Why is he considered anything else than a possible number 4 starter? I really feel that’s his upside. Hardly any bats miss, his velocity is nothing special and if he wasn’t in the Johan trade I think many would have given up all hope by now

by gpellet41 on Jun 6, 2025 8:01 AM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't think he is that highly thought of

by Twins fans. Possible back of the rotation guy. He’s nice to have, but nobody’s really excited by him.

Brett DeVall

7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB 5 K CG.

He’s been pretty awesome his last few starts, he didn’t start his season at Rome until May though. Down to a 1.96 ERA, and a 0.78 ERA in his last four starts.

Nice bounce back game for Casey Kelly

Get’s rocked in his first start (high A) and then throws 6 innings of no hit ball his next start. Nice job.
