but I have a pretty good size list I have yet to place into the rankings. I believe most of these guys will be outside of the top 1000.

There’s no reason to get too worked up about the rankings. It’s a nice compilation of the Who’s Who in minor league baseball.
Great work, garriock. I can’t even imagine the time and thought that was put into them.
Give us the rest of the rankings. I would love to see them.

I have spent a lot of time on compiling a list and ordering it. It is far from perfect and I could move someone up or down everytime I scroll through it. Just thought it would be fun to see others reactions.

Feliz at number 26 behind Andrus at 16...really?
also Eric Hurley is toast with rotator cuff surgery, and your really underating Wilfredo Boscon 245.
"It doesn't look like he's trying. It kinda pisses me off," "He could throw 110 if he tried. The way it explodes out of his hand is really something special." ~ B-Mac on Feliz.

I love Feliz but I think Andrus will have a long MLB career. Maybe not as high of a peak as Feliz, but a more consistent player.

Not really, no
He’s got poor plate discipline 3:1 K:BB ratio and struck out in 26% of his AB’s year. He doesn’t have that much power and he doesn’t steal bases or get on base at an obscene rate. He also plays a mediocre corner outfield.
He might have some tools but he’s got no sense of how to use them. But yeah, let’s slap that ludicrous projection on him and call it a day, anyway.

I'd also move up Holt quite a few spots
Given the following facts:
1) he’s probably starting at AA
2) he’s almost certainly going to be a decent bullpen arm at the very least
3) he has the ceiling of a good #2 starter.
4) he seems to be making huge strides in terms of his secondary stuff (for more on this, I’d be happy to link you)

Seems pretty anti Jays in the rankings. Cecil not in the top 100, Cooper barely in the top 200, no Jackson at all.

IRRESPONSIBLE
"If you hit .440 with 20 bombs, you don't have to do s---. You don't have to bring a glove to practice, just hit and leave whenever you want. You can bring a 40 and smoke a cigarette and call me from the parking lot asking me what time the game is, and I'll tell you. You can even say 'F--- you, Steve!' at 198, I mean its acceptable, but I’m pretty damn high on him. Also, I feel Lorenzo Cain is low, I like him as a top 175-225 guy, what is the downfall with him if I may ask?

How could you possibly compile that kind of a list?

Fantasy league draft.
I made a spreadsheet to sift out the best prospects using nothing but stats and age. It is very flawed but did catch many guys I wouldn’t have caught otherwise. I read a variety of websites for rankings, scouting reports and just regular stories. I am always looking to gain knowledge on this and am going to try to keep this up from year to year and improve it. I also added some players through a fantasy draft that was conducted recently in a league I just started.

That's cool
Your list should improve as time goes on, then, as you encounter better strategies.

I guess I can't complain too much about this list
After all, you do have 8 of the 10 players I’ve drafted so far in the Super Sickles Keeper League higher than the level at which I drafted them. You do have some wildly optimistic views for some of them, but I sure hope you’re right. By the way, my two “misses” were Neftali Feliz picked 11th overall (you have him 27th), and Anthony Slama picked 190th (not in your top 300).

I'm not real high on Slama
He is very old for his level, though he dominated. I prefer Rob Delaney if you are looking for a Twins relief prospect. Slama could surprise though and come out of nowhere a la Neshek.

Pretty cool...
That you’re going so deep.
I’ll make a comment towards the Braves prospects, since those are the ones I follow most closely.
I don’t see DeVall ahead of Jeff Locke, Randall Delgado, or Kris Medlen. DeVall was the first choice in our draft but he has to seperate himself from a whole slew of quality lefties. I put a lot of weight into performance, and obviously DeVall hasn’t really had a chance to do that yet. And from what I know, Delgado’s stuff ranks right up there with Teheran’s, Teheran is just a year younger and is supposed to have better mechanics. DeVall is the type of pitcher I like, I’m just not high on him yet, compared to the other pitchers in the organization.

Surprised Tommy Hunter would be that low
given that he had quite a bit of success in AAA. And the whole A-MLB in one year thing.
How did you formulate a ranking for Tae-Kyeong Ahn? I know you spreadsheeted it, but I hadn’t seen any stats from Korea and to my knowledge he hasn’t pitched outside of instructs in the States yet.

Questions
This partially answers my first question about how you compiled the list:
___________________________________________________________
“I made a spreadsheet to sift out the best prospects using nothing but stats and age. It is very flawed but did catch many guys I wouldn’t have caught otherwise. I read a variety of websites for rankings, scouting reports and just regular stories. I am always looking to gain knowledge on this and am going to try to keep this up from year to year and improve it. I also added some players through a fantasy draft that was conducted recently in a league I just started.”
______________________________________________________________
But what sort of stats did you use and did you weight them at all? In other words, what were you looking for to determine that one pitcher is higher or lower and one hitter is higher or lower? ERA? K/BB ratio? GB%? HRF?
Second, for what ultimate criteria were you grading? Upside as a major leaguer? Likelihood of reaching the majors?
And third, were you considering ancillary factors such as level or closeness to the majors? injury history and probabilities?
I do not mean to suggest you should have done any or all of that. Just wondering what you did do?

Spreadsheet
I used basic fantasy baseball stats because I originally did the spreadsheet for a fantasy league. OBP, runs, RBI, SB, SLG, TB, and age compared to league for hitters.
ERA, K, BB, Saves, wins, whip, age compared to league. I prorated all of them based on at bats and innings pitched.
I rated them on a variety of things. It’s hard just to state a general philosophy. If I did this for a living or had the time I would like to give a small excerpt on each person and a grade/rating on peak and probability of them reaching their peak…maybe someday.

Awesome list--just a cherry-picked throught
I find it interesting that you are so low on Aaron Cunningham after he put up such a good season in 2008 split across AA and AAA as a 22-year old.
Is it because he’s not a toolsy player? It’s just interesting that people keep expecting him to fail and each year he does better. He’s putting up good averages, IsoPs between .185 and .200, his plate discipline got much better last year and he has above average speed.

All 161 have a chance and many below him do also.
Rankings aren’t who has the better career when all is said and done, because I have no clue. None of us do. Just my ranking, nothing more. Ask the Pirates if Moskos is better than Weiters. They ranked him that way and bet large sums of money on it. I’m just doing it for fun.
