easyb said it was possible that Boras would direct Porcello to go to college like he did with Prior. I gave him another Boras HS pitcher who signed with a club instead of going to college.

That is a problem based within an organization.

The MLB sets a guideline for slot money but can't really enforce that slot. If your team won't spend cash because they might upset king Bud that is their own fault.

if they want to control cost ... they should control the slotting completely ... tightening it is nice and all, but unless there's forced restrictions ... some team will overpay

if they let trades happen, that could also prevent a dynamic as such ... i mean, i understand the rationale against trading in general, but they could limit trading to say, like the first 5 rounds or something like that ..

which places me in the minority around here. You have to view him as a HS experienced pitcher in a mans body. He isn't going to grow anymore and will have time to let his (lack of) experience catch up to his overwhelming physical attributes. Simply, he has all of the upside of a HS player without the uncertainty of a HS body.
