Game Recaps from Saturday, October 25th

Mesa 14 - Surprise 0

One look at the score tells the story as Mesa absolutely blew the doors off Surprise in a 14-0 blowout. Not only was the offense firing on all cylinders, their pitching was on point, allowing six base runners the entire game. Every Solar Sox player got a hit and the team had more extra base hits than the Saguaros had base runners. 3B Daniel Robertson (MSS) singled an incredible five times, driving in four runs and scoring twice. LF Dalton Pompey (MSS) doubled and singled twice, scoring two runs and driving in one with two strike outs. CF Boog Powell (MSS) also racked up a pair of doubles and a single, also stealing a base, working a walk, scoring twice and striking out once. 1B Matt Olson (MSS) reached base four times with a triple, two singles and a walk, scoring two runs and driving in three. RF Bijan Rademacher (MSS) tripled and doubled, plating a pair with a run scored as well. LHP Sean Nolin (MSS) struck out five in three perfect innings for his first win of the Fall. RF Nick Williams (SUR) reached base three times for the Saguaros, getting hit by a pitch and singling twice, getting caught stealing and was stranded on base each time.

Peoria 6 - Salt River 3

Peoria halted Salt River's five game winning streak with a 6-3 victory on the heels of six extra base hits. RF Jordan Smith (PEJ) and DH Hunter Dozier (PEJ) each racked up a pair of doubles, driving in one and striking out once. Smith also worked a walk and Dozier scored twice. SS Francisco Lindor (PEJ) was 1-5 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI, and 1B Cody Stanley (PEJ) doubled and scored. Starting pitcher RHP Jaime Schultz (PEJ) allowed three runs through 4.1 innings of work, scattering five hits and two walks with five punch outs and his third error. RHP Ryne Harper (PEJ) earned the win with 1.2 scoreless relief innings, striking out three with one hit allowed, and RHP Sam Tuivailala (PEJ) got the save with four strike outs and one hit allowed in two innings. RHP Mark Appel (SRR) went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk with two strike outs, not factoring in the decision. LHP Edgar Olmos (SRR) took the loss allowing two runs in one inning. 2B Trevor Story (SRR) had an RBI triple and a throwing error, CF Eddie Rosario (SRR) stole his ninth base after going 1-3 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. RF Evan Marzilli (SRR) reached three times on a walk, single, and a double, scoring once and striking out once as well.

A pair of Yankees farmhands, 1B Greg Bird (SCO) and RF Tyler Austin (SCO), each homered and singled, driving in two and scoring twice with Bird also striking out and hitting a sac fly. DH Aaron Judge (SCO) hit a solo shot, worked a walk, scored both times, also struck out.
