Update and Suggestion Thread
With Opening Day almost upon us, here is how I have things laid out for the next few days.
**I'm going to the University of Kansas/Texas Tech game tonight and hope to get a good view of Tech outfielder Barrett Barnes, a potential first round pick.
**I will have a revised Top 100 Prospects List for 2012 to celebrate Opening Day next Wednesday, April 4th.
**Matt G. and I will be working on another First Round mock draft in early April.
**Prospect of the Day will begin again next Tuesday.
**The most commonly-asked for item of late was the look at 25-and-younger non-rookies, which I just finished today. Make suggestions for further coverage you would like to see.
**I'll have some discussion questions to keep you busy this weekend.

The first mock was great. Can I suggest stretching it to the supplemental or even the 2nd? I know its a ton of work so you guys might not have the time.

I am working on
putting players into tiers and compiling my personal draft board. I like to do one mid-college season and update it leading up to the draft. That should be up next week.

Evaluation evolution
You’ve stated several times that along he years you’ve gained some experience and knowledge, refined your evaluation skills and generally have some different views on prospects. Relievers don’t get that high of a grade, K/BB is more of a concern, etc…
How about doing a recap of players or crops that you would have evaluated in a different way had that same player(s) came at this time. Not hindsight, just looking at for instance the 2002 prospects sample and doing the top 20, with today’s sense of things.

I am more curious about
Erasmo Ramirez. He appears to have made the M’s as a reliever.

OF smackdown
Christian Yelich vs. Jake Marisnick
A couple OF guys with some speed & power.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.

How about predictions?
ROY, MVP, playoff teams?
Maybe some arrival dates based on spring training…

+1
Crystal ball for the upcoming season. Players you think will have big years, down years. Teams that will win/lose. And I like that arrival date idea…

a top 5 (for each league) of rookie of the year candidates would be cool
MVP and playoff predictions don’t really fit the site imo.

Jake Hager/Joe Panik
Smackdown of 2 first round middle infielders who were first round “overdrafts” - drafted 3 apart.

Prospects to be no longer prospects
Basically, who outside of the commonly assumed (Cozart, Montero, Alonso, etcetera) do you see getting enough AB or IP to qualify for ROY, and who makes a significant impact? Henderson Alvarez last year probably would have been too much of a dark horse, but the Giavotella-type guys who we might look for mid-season to slip into a starting role would be interesting to know.
