MILB.TV
I'm potentially interested in subscribing to MILB.tv, and I've been trying to find out some answers and thought that this might be a good place to see if anyone's familiar.
I know it's $40 for the year, but my biggest concern is trying to watch them on a device other than my computer. (I can watch them through that, but I'd prefer to watch it other ways).
Does anyone know if MILB.TV will work with either Apple TV or Roku? If so, does anyone know if they will work through the apps for MLB.TV, and if it requires a subscription to MLB.TV to do that? Any more information would be greatly appreciated!

I'm unaware of it working through any other devices as of right now
I use MLB.tv through my Roku (apparently they’re changing it this year so you can only get it on non-PC devices with the premium version), but have never seen anything about MiLB.tv being offered on there. No clue about Apple TV but I would guess that it is a similar story.
I would still highly recommend MiLB.tv, though. I know there are a number of people who like to write up a few things about what they’ve seen on there, and it is pretty likely that I’ll be offering detailed analysis in addition to the games I actually get out to this year. MLB.tv is of course terrific as well and while they’ve hiked its price, the premium version gets you the uber-awesome app on the house for the device of your choice.

If you have MLB.tv I believe the cost is less. Last year I paid $10 for it but not sure when I subscribed.
Yeah, pretty much only AAA. And the quality isn’t that good. But if there are a few players you really like that will be in AAA that you like it’s worth it. Harper, Trout, Miller will be there so I will be getting it.

i just got it for $5 a month on top of my mlb.tv subscription...
honestly, if i watch 2 or so minor league games a month, it’ll be worth it to me.

I Wasn't Too Thrilled with MiLB.TV
Not really sure about it being used through Roku or Apple TV. But in terms of content, to be honest, I really wasn’t all that thrilled with it last year. For the most part, all you really get are Triple-A games, and while it’s nice to see players you probably won’t see in the Majors often, if at all, you don’t really get to see too much of the best prospects (and even if you do, it’s a short period of time). If they had more Double-A or High-A games, I would be more gung-ho for it, but until they’re able to get those capabilities, I would probably not renew my subscription for this year.
Also, another thing is that not all the game are in a “television” format. There are a lot of games where you get the stadium “bird’s eye” view with the radio broadcast going on in the background. Kinda ruins the purpose of trying to view prospects if you can’t even view them up close.
If you want to see a lot of four A players, then I would suggest MiLB.TV. However, if you are buying it to look at prospects, then it might not be the best expenditure for now, though I think if they add more Double-A clubs and even High-A clubs, I think it could get even better.

one strategy
Wait a couple of months into the season once the archives have built up, then buy it by the month and watch away. I might end up doing this as it saves money.
I would say the number of “real prospects” that you get to see is quite substantial and that should not be a barrier to buying. As long as you’re not looking to become an expert on these players (because you’re not after 5 innings or 3 ABs), it’s fine. If you want the whole story, there really is no replacement for actually being at the games IMO.

I disagree.
I get to see the Rays AAA team, AA team, A team, and A- team all because a certain team in their league is televised. Do I get to see them much? No. Is it ideal? No. Do I wish they had a radar gun for non-AAA games? Yes. But it still is a nice tool.

It Depends on the Team I Guess
If you’re a Rays or Braves fan, you do get a lot more access to teams. But for most organizations, you get the Triple-A squad and that’s it. And like I said, for some of the games, all you get is a sky cam so you don’t really know who you’re seeing and what they look like, which to me, defeats the purpose of buying this package (after all, you want to see what these prospects’ mechanics and swings and pitching motions look like).
I’m not totally down on it. It was great that I got to see a lot of the PCL teams in action, and I did get to see guys like Belt and Rizzo in action, which isn’t a bad thing by any means. However, I just want to wait a couple of years as they add more teams (which I think they will). The archive function is a huge help, and it is nice to see old games just to see tape on these players.
To be honest, I’m not totally down on not ordering it again. I am about 60-40 in terms of not buying it to buying it. If the PCL or IL seems to be pretty interesting (mostly weighing PCL since I focus on the Giants system for the most part), I might give it one more shot, especially since I have more time to watch games then I did last year.

I wouldn't exactly say that.
And team’s fan gets AAA games. For AA, each league has at least one team televised, so you can catch your prospects when they play them. For A+, no teams are televised. For A, the MWL has a team and SAL has a few teams. Sure, some teams have more televised than others, but each team has the same amount of teams televised during the year.
