He had a bad April

ERA-wise (not that we care about ERA).

Since then he’s:

Some guy name Strasburg

pitched 7 innings of 4 hit ball, 2 ER, no walks and 14k’s and got the win.

oh ya, it was his major league debut.

14k’s in your major league debut, just silly.

I think he’s getting interesting - and FIP in the 2.60 range in AA with a 3:1 K:BB. Can he be an SP with the Yankees?

Chris Archer

continues his hot run of late. 6 shutout, 2 h, 2 bb, 8 K’s. 5:3 GO/FO.

He’s been hot since April ended. In 8 starts (41 innings), he’s 4-0, giving up 17 H and 14 BB, and only 1 HR. He’s given up 9 runs (2 unearned). His GO/AO rate has been above 1.7.

Tabata and Lincoln

getting called up by the Pirates. Lincoln’s starting tomorrow. Tabata should be playing too.

by epoc on Jun 9, 2025 2:03 AM EDT reply actions

Yar!

things be lookin up in ye old steel town.

  C - Doumit
1B - Clement
2B - Walker
SS - Crosby
3B - Alvarez
LF - Tabata
CF - McCutcheon
RF - Milledge

this is at least a step in the right direction.

by Alfamale on Jun 9, 2025 8:32 AM EDT reply actions

That's still a pretty awful lineup

Clement, Crosby and Milledge have no business being in the majors. Luckily, Clement was just sent down with this move.

by jar75 on Jun 9, 2025 8:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Hooray! Let’s see if Lincoln can justify all the praise I’ve heaped on him. He’s been ridiculous for the last month.

by WrenFGun on Jun 9, 2025 9:11 AM EDT up reply actions

Not awful at all...

if Alvarez hit like he is supposed to, McCutchen, Tabata, and Doumit hit like they are supposed to, and walker keeps hitting like he is.

When was the last time the Pirates were league average?

Is getting the lineup there NOT a major accomplishment for them?

by PissedMick on Jun 9, 2025 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions

+1

And it’s really foolish to count on Doumit staying healthy and Walker continuing to be a complete surprise. There are some real pieces in place now (McCutchen, Alvarez, Tabata), but there’s still a lot of waste in that lineup.

by jar75 on Jun 9, 2025 5:39 PM EDT up reply actions

You're leaving out Garrett Jones

He hit 21 HR’s in half a season last year, and, more importantly, has developed a much better approach at the plate this year.

Tabata
Walker
McCutchen
Jones
Alvarez
Doumit
Milledge

He is pissed at Neal Huntingdon……

He is going to be nasty….

(All of this was against LHP, supposedly his kryptonite, yet, he is hitting above .300 against them, and, better than he is hitting against RHP.)

Brody Colvin

7 Innings, 6 Hits, 3 runs(unearned), 1 bb, 8 K’s

After his slow start he’s been heating up, he has a FIP around 3 in May/June, and an era around 3 over that time as well.

No mention of the AAA indians from yesterday

Matt LaPorta 4-4 3 HRs !!!!!!!!!
