Carlos Santana: ETA = ?
So he's off to a scorching start in AAA Columbus...A switch hitter with 4 taters in 20ab along with a .450AVG/,500OBP
Not knowing too much about his defensive skills, is there any hold up here? Marson isn't exactly blocking him on the Indians. I would love to see what this guy could do at the major league level.
This brings the obvious question to the table.
ETA?
When do you see Santana getting the call up?

Honestly
It’s just whenever the Indians feel like it. I think he’ll be up for sure by midseason.

As soon as he can no longer become a super 2. My guess is around the all star break.
They still want him to work on his game calling and handling of a pitching staff, so there’s no rush.

The day after he would be eligable for Super Two, he is starting in Cleveland

not usually June
Usually the cut-off is around May 17th-21st. However, teams will delay players another 2 or 3 weeks after that just to ensure that they won’t be super 2

yea, i should have made that distinction
When I said June, that was when you should expect players to start being called up..

Starting?
So the general consensus is that Marson is just keeping his position warm until he gets there? Marson must feel just dandy about that but not much he can do about it.

basically
Santana will most likely start as soon as he is called up, no point in having him lose development time, gain service time and not get any chance to prove himself/get better

Speak English
The local papers around here have reported in the past that they also want him to get better at speaking English. They said he made significant improvement over the winter but still has some work to do. It will help him to better communicate with the pitchers rather than having to have someone from the dugout run out to the mound all the time to give any instructions to the pitcher.

Although....
You never know with the Indians, you see how badly they screwed up LaPorta’s development?
