Mike Stanton - Trade Value
Dynasty Trade value of Mike Stanton
I have a strong "win now" team, but also have strong prospects as in this league I prefer to allocate scarce roster slots to upside prospects at the expense of MLB depth.
I'm not sure how much longer I can tolerate Wandy Rodriguez as one of my 8 SP's in my starting lineup amid his YTD performance and vibes that he has some shoulder soreness. So I can either trade a prospect for an arm or hit the WW.
So I would like some views on Mike Stanton's "market value" in terms of a trade for an arm. To make this easy, put positional needs aside and just give me your view on Mike Stanton for any of the following pitchers (who I thought might be in the "neighborhood" of value parity with Stanton).
Wade Davis
Scott Kazmir
Ricky Romero
John Danks
Neftali Feliz (not a starter but I could still use him in a starting slot if I wanted)
Jon Sanchez
Johhny Cueto
Francisco Liriano
Gavin Floyd
Mat Latos
Phil Hughes
Alternatively, I could go stopgap and pickup someone like Kevin Millwood from the WW and drop my backup catcher - Yadier Molina.
Anyway, I appreciate thoughts on this topic.

From a purely fantasy perspective
I’d caution you from jumping ship on Wandy after only 2 starts. He has an ungodly .341 BABIP, and his FIP is nearly a full point lower than his ERA. While both are too high, this indicates to me that there’s bad luck in play. I’d hold tight with Wandy
You’re name has 2k9 in it — what are you some 8 year-old who makes Pillsbury Doughboy cookies and jerks off to that bullshit video game with Tim Lincecum on the cover--

i love people like you
you can’t stand Wandy? It’s been TWO starts. I wish there were more guys like this in my league, where they look to dump a guy after a rough first WEEK of the season. Think about that. Not trying to be a jerk, but seriously, think about it.
As for Stanton, I’d hold. Try to snag Jonathan Sanchez on the cheap before he blows up.

Who's "dumping" Wandy??
I am simply looking at counter-measures to take him out of my starting lineup until he hopefully rights the ship and looking to convert some prospect talent into SP depth.
That said, I am concerned. His body of work in ST was not good. Now 2 bad starts in a row with minimal K’s. Plus, he indicated that he had shoulder discomfort in his last start. Will Carroll’s column today expresses some concern.

Sometimes
However, when a vet pitcher’s outings don’t improve as April 1st approaches and/or velocity readings are erratic, it presents a red flag.
Case in point, Mike Gonzalez, awful in ST, continues that way for a few games and is now on the DL.
Wandy did not pitch well even late in ST. Two bad outings and in the most recent one complains of shoulder irritation. It is a red flag and certainly a situation that bears watching.

Well
That’s really scouting. I could point out other pitchers who had bad numbers in spring training and are doing just fine. The signal to noise ratio is too hard to overcome. BTW, how do know when the irritation started? You can’t prove it one way or the other.

Will Carroll thinks that it bears watching and so do I.
I’m not dumping him but have added some depth.
Poor results combined with a pitcher complaining of elbow or shoulder discomfort is a red flag. Not 100% a sure thing but guys like Webb, Kazmir, Mike Gonzalez, Jeff Francis, Johan Santana to name a few all started out the same way and all had some significant injuries.
If there wasn’t a shoulder factor in the mix master I would not be relying much at all on the bad ST results.

Floyd comfortably
Is the best option on that list if you want to win now and he should be good for the forseeable future as he is in his peak years.
