Morning Update, February 25th
Our four-year-old developed a nice case of turbobarfing yesterday evening. Jeri tended him during the night, so now it's my turn to take over. As a result, blogging will be light or non-existent today.
Discussion Question to keep you busy: are you guys sick of hearing about Stephen Strasburg, or is it impossible to hear too much about his "best pitching prospect in the draft era" talent?

Im sick of it
We all know what he can do and all the news is just repeats of stuff we know. Let him pitch in some games and then we can start up again…

I agree
I want to see the media talk about how he is throwing in game situations rather than just talking about his potential. Soon enough…

like I said
If it was new info, it’s one thing. However, when it’s the same stuff over and over again or him doing things that everyone else does, to everyone outside of Washington DC… we dont care that he knows how to stretch..
And I agree that I just want to know how he does in his first taste of games… as you said, soon enough

very much so
I would definitely rather see/hear something on some of the other impact rookies for 2010.

It sounds like there are a lot of intriguing young arms all over baseball
100-mph, wicked curveballs - Strasburg could be great but he’s definitely not alone in the “young electric arm” category.

No, I'm certainly not
His level of talent deserves to be focused upon. Let’s not get all cynical, and let’s just enjoy his rise to greatness
You’re name has 2k9 in it — what are you some 8 year-old who makes Pillsbury Doughboy cookies and jerks off to that bullshit video game with Tim Lincecum on the cover--

Strasburg vs. Chapman
Maybe it’s just me - but why the outrage over Strasburg’s deal, but not so much over Chapman’s deal? They’re nearly the same age, and both grabbed a pot fill of gold from the MLB leprechaun before establishing themselves in the majors.

I actually think Strasburg's contract was an absolute bargin
Draft picks don’t get paid anywhere near what their talent demands.

Yeah
I’m with you, but there was quite a bit of chatter about how big of a precendent it was setting. And then Chapman’s deal got signed with much less chatter surrounding it.

Chapman was a free agent. A whole different set of rules.

A little bit
He got overshadowed the last few months by Aroldis Chapman. Were it not for Chapman, I think the Strasburg drooling could have drowned us all.

Yes
I remember when Mark Prior used to cause media orgasms. Whatever happened to him?

Ugh
Not sure what your point is here, but there is obviously a higher injury risk for pitchers than position players. Because Mark Prior got injured we should completely ignore Steven Strasburg? I think you might not enjoy this site very much.

As a relatively recent Nats fan
I’m not tired of hearing it at all. I’m not really emotionally invested, but it’s nice to hear stories that paint him as the Savior. A man can dream can’t he?

I think the coverage in Washington DC
will and should remain very high. However, it doesnt have to be the 1st story on ESPN about how he did a drill today.. to everyone else it’s like congrats Stephan, only a million other guys have done the same drill in ST…

hmm..
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think he has gotten a ton of attention more than he already deserves. When your basically the top prospect and going to be in the majors soon, your going to get quite a bit of media … add onto to that his talent level and well there you go. Heyward is getting a lot of attention, Justin Upton got a lot, so to me Stras has been relatively in line with guys of similar talent level.
Then again I don’t have tv so maybe he gets a lot of attention on espn stations.

Actually
What I’m sick of are alleged internet “experts” who claim that Strasburg’s a surefire lock for arm problems within 2 years.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
