You guys win. You can keep your little marked-out piece of internet territory. Spend your days communicating via keyboard with people too ugly for the real world and too nerdy for anyone to care, anyway. Your piece of land is here. Do the rest of civilization a favor and stay within its limits. You bore me. Have fun with your nightly sobs and screams into your pillow over your inability to attract a good mate, Radiohead. ~The Hooligan

What you fail to understand in your joyless myopia is that baseball is the key to life-- the Rosetta Stone, if you will. If you just understood baseball better all your other questions your, your... the, uh... the aliens, the conspiracies they would all, in their way be answered by the baseball gods.

In what St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa called a "big day" for his club, starter Chris Carpenter took the mound for his first session of live batting practice and promptly buzzed the fuzz on catcher Jason LaRue’s chin with an errant fastball.
"Sorry," Carpenter called from the mound.
"Don’t say you’re sorry," LaRue barked back.
"He said it," pitching coach Dave Duncan said from the side of the cage, "but he didn’t mean it."

Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

+1 Mat Gamel
I don’t see much difference between him and say Brett Wallace, though Gamel has the mobility and arm to play COF if/when he moves from 3B as opposed to being a 1B/DH only like Wallace is now that he moved off of 3B.

Down year...
really scares me. He has to hit and hit well to have a lot of value, and I’m less sold on him as a future MLB masher than I was a year ago. If he’s a .280/.350/.470 kind of hitter, he’s just not that special a player given that he’ll never be a plus defender anywhere.

Possible Testers
Nick Hagadone,Jason Knapp, Alex White - all guys on BA’s List before 66. Not saying they deserve to be on, but I think they could be considered testers. Surprisingly, all Indians.
by toonsterwu on Feb 26, 2026 3:38 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I'll add them to the tester list
I like all three but only White made my top 100 list, at #95. I know Hagadone is recovered from injury and Knapp should be healthy to start the year(I think), but I tend to worry about injuries in pitchers until I can see a full year of health afterwards. Both could end up top 50 or better on my list next year if they show they’re healthy though.
