Ryan Strieby

I just added Strieby to my minor roster in my fantasy league. He seems to be severyl underrated. I can't figure out why he is not talked about as a top 100 prospect at all, i mean his name was not considered for the community list and John didn't have him in his top 20 tigers prospects. So whats wrong with him? I'm guessing he is slow and below average defensively..am i right? Last year he hit .278/.352/.563 with 29 HRs in the FSL as a 22 yr old. Not spectacular for a 22yr old but not chopped liver. This year in the Eastern League he is off to a .307/.419/.609 line with 13 hr's. That looks like top 100 prospect type numbers to me. I mean 23 isn't young for AA but its not too old to disregard big numbers. What can you guys tell me about this guy?

Underrated

The big reason people don’t talk about him (at least from my experience) is because he’s defensively limited. Unless this LF project really works out, he’s stuck at 1st for his entire career- and he’s blocked by Miguel Cabrera there.

As far as his bat goes, he’s a major source of power, but I’ve heard questions about his ability to hit for average at a higher level. Strikeouts were a problem in the past, but he’s now walking more at the higher levels (31- that’s only 15 walks away from what he had last year in A ball).

To me, he’s probably a TTO guy- think Jack Cust.
