Tough call
My initial thought is “upside”, probably arm, but I wonder about Drew Storen here. Honestly, I could see a surprise, say a Robert Stock, get popped here. I’m thinking Storen or Hobgood out of the current options, and leaning Storen I think.

Upside, but signable
As a compensation pick, the Yankees would not be entitled to compensation if they fail to sign the pick. That takes Storen (draft-eligible soph) and Hobgood (there have been signability questions about him). They have taken a lot of arms high lately and I see them now shifting course to athletic position players. I chose Fuentes. Williams was also highly considered here.

good points
Admittedly, didn’t ponder the signability aspect, figuring “Yankees” and money. The other reason I pondered Storen was the possibility of quick movement, but that probably shouldn’t be a big factor, as Melancon’s in AAA, one of the starters will have to sit in the pen, and more than likely, Cashman will make a pen deal.

I really like Hobgood
Good build, good curve, I understand he has command issues at times, but I think the upside is worth it. Seems like a good risk for a team like the Yanks.
