in R ball at age 22 with only 1 K
I’m happy for him too that he got the ball over, but I can’t say I’m especially impressed by the whole picture

THREAD JACK
The New Jersey Nets just showed why MLB’s no salary cap is the best system sports have.

hmm
Well, Carter is 32 and Lee is more likely to be productive on the Nets next good team in brooklyn. Alston and Lee isn’ty a bad haul. Alston to make sure Harris doesn’t wear out, and Lee is an ok shooter and a very good defender. As for the salary cap system, I am just going on the trade’s merits. Not great, not awful.

Yeah, Vince Carter sucks
He doesnt play defense or play hard. He’s only concerned with scoring and his own stats, and living the NBA lifestyle.
The Magic were desperate to add a scorer with Turkoglu opting out of his deal.
I think the Nets got a pretty decent haul - Lee is pretty good, the other two are useful pieces AND they cleared cap space for the free agent bonanza next year - when half the stars in the league have their contracts up.
I actually own a VC Raptors jersey… I dont hate the guy or anything, but he does not play winning basketball. He scores well, and everything else he does is a product of him being on the court so much. Not a good fit on a winning team. The only time he ever gets traded is when winning teams on the downslide get desperate to add scoring. The Magic have a lot of those guys. Rashard Lewis is a big guy who also doesnt play defense or do anything besides score. I really have no clue how they beat the Cavs. They managed to come through the fire against a crippled Celtics squad and were playing their best and shell shocked a mentally weak Cavs team.

I like VC
it’s a tar heel thing. I figured the carter jamison and the wallace stackhouse hels would win at least 1 title but it is hard. Carter and jamison got absolutely smoked by the Utes that one eyar in the tournament. Final score wasn’t bad, but Utes tore out at first, almost like the kansas game 2 years ago.
Of course, that Utah team had a couple of NBA players in Andre Miller and Michael Doleac.

Well...
not many people is complaining about a salary cap in MLB. What many people are complaining is about the lack of a salary cap for draft picks

I think a ton of people complain about the salary cap in the MLB.
On this site the draft is just a bigger topic of discussion.

A little low-level, but...
19-year-old Edouardo Aldama just struck out 7 consecutive hitters for the Kingsport Mets. Through 5 innings, he has 9 K, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 6GB-0FB. Anyone know much about him?

Freeman is killing the ball…
Since April he’s hit .348. Even with all the pitching they’ve lost (Osuna, Locke, Sullivan), I think that team can compete for a second half title just on the offense they have with Freeman, Heyward, and Johnson. Those three have a chance I finishing 1-2-3 in OPS for the league, if Heyward isn’t promoted too soon.
Q: If on-base pct is so important then why don't they put it on the scoreboard? -Failcoeur
A: Because the Braves don't want to show their fans how bad you suck.

Assumption
Why have him throw anymore innings? His last 4 starts have been 5 innings. He did his job and he’s had an injury riddled career so far. I really hope they continue to take it slow with this kid. The Dodgers need some competition. Maybe not this year, but a couple years down the line.
