Washington Nationals Top 20 Prospects for 2012

Because I couldn't wait for John, I decided to do a mock ranking of my own, let me know if I'm crazy with anybody.

1. Bryce Harper, OF

2. Anthony Rendon, 3B

3. AJ Cole, RHP

4. Brad Peacock, RHP

5. Alex Meyer, RHP

6. Sammy Solis, LHP

7. Brian Goodwin, CF

8. Matt Purke, LHP

9. Destin Hood, OF

10. Derek Norris, C

11. Robbie Ray, LHP

12. Tom Milone, LHP

13. Steve Lombardozzi, 2B/SS

14. Eury Perez, OF

15. Zach Walters, SS

16. Tyler Moore, 1B

17. David Freitas, C

18. Brad Meyers, RHP

19. Erik Komatsu, OF

20. Chris Marrero, 1B

Star-divide

I'm more about upside than anything. That's why Lombardozzi and Milone are comparatively lower.

not bad at all

But I think your a little down on Norris. He gets on base a lot, has power, can stick at catcher, and I dont thinks hes going to his .210 every year

Purke

I’d like to see him do something that indicates a rebound before I’d feel confident putting him anywhere higher than mid-teens in this system. Risky C+.

That aside, this system has to be top-five at this point. In fact, if I were Rizzo, I don’t know if I’d trade this whole system straight across for any other system in baseball, just on the strength of Harper and Rendon, even ignoring the top few pitching prospects, Goodwin, Norris, etc. Decent argument that this is the best farm in baseball right now, I think.

i'm not sure if this is because of the Nats system depth

or you just have a different evaluation of Zach Walters

but he honestly wouldn’t have broken my Top 25 if he were still in the Dbacks farm.
