Rank These Prospects
Upcoming Supplemental Draft - Tiers are fine
Context: Upcoming Supplemental Prospect Draft in a Dynasty League, 5x5, no salaries. Dropped prospects can not be picked up but must be redrafted unless they have MLB service time. Any professional (minors or international is fair game). Reserve spots can be prospects or MLB depth and spots are not plentiful so good prospect talent is available or gets dropped as injuries occur on folks MLB roster. I have the 2nd pick in the May 15th draft and plan on cutting loose Jose Tabata: How would you rank the following guys on my short list:
Nick Weglarz
Mike Trout
Simon Castro
Andrew Cashner
Lars Anderson
Josh Vitters
Eric Hosmer
Yu Darvish (wild card as he's been dropped a few times, betting on his MLB debut date)
Several of the above have been rostered in the past but dropped for various reasons. Completely ignore positonal needs for this exercise and just focus on best MLB production (defense is ignored).
Thanks, any rationale appreciated as well

Dont understand the love for Weglarz
Extremely overrated.
Ks alot.
Can’t play D.
Wont hit for good avg.
Injury prone.
Hasn’t translated power ‘potential’ into HRs.
As far as I’m concerned, he’s crap.

Simon Castro - even though a sp, safest option imo
Eric Hosmer - mainly for potential and showing a nice start, though he is hitting an awful lot of gb’s
Nick Weglarz - if it wasn’t for an injury would of had a break through in 2009
Mike Trout - concerned about lack of pop, but everything else looks good
Lars Anderson - similar to Wegz for me
Andrew Cashner - great start, just need to see more
Josh Vitters - lack on patience worries me

Oops, I didn't ignore defense/position
Weglarz would be ahead of Vitters if I did.

you dont believe the thoughts that his team is going to post him after the season?(darvish)
Not sure if I do, but MLB team do, as they have picked up their scouting of him, according to MLBTR

I hadn't heard that
But I have read multiple reports that Darvish isn’t interested in playing in the US.

From SI.com
Several major league clubs are ramping up their scouting of Yu Darvish, the sensational right-hander for the Nippon Ham Fighters of the Japanese Pacific League, amid their growing speculation that his club will enter him into the Major League Baseball posting process this fall. Darvish, 23, is not eligible for free agency until 2013, but major league clubs are preparing for the possibility that his club may post him after this season — the same process in which Diasuke Matsuzaka joined the Red Sox in 2006. (Boston entered a posting bid of $51 million just to negotiate with him.)
Darvish owns a career record of 66-25 and has perhaps the most impressive arsenal of pitches in the world: mid-90s fastball, slider, curve, changeup, splitter and shuuto, a version of a two-seam fastball — and often throws them from different arm angles. Darvish opened this season by becoming only the third pitcher in his league to strike out 10 or more batters in five consecutive games.
The major league scouts, however, must be cringing at his pitch counts. Darvish surpassed 140 pitches in three of those five starts, including 148 in his fifth one. No major leaguer has thrown that many pitches in a game in five years.

If hes posted, im not sure how much power he’d have. The reports were more if he was a FA, but that wont happen till 2013 if he stays in Japan..
