Luke Hochevar has to be close at 93.3; I’ll be following him closely this year.

Great news!

milb.com has a link to the boxscore right in the Scoreboard, this was my least favorite feature of the milb.com makeover, and now that it’s back, I feel the site is greatly improved.

agreed

It’s like, try using it in a sentence . . .

“That guy is really good at ripping ass.”

“That guy totally ripped that pitcher’s ass the other night. Oh, and he went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, too.”

I was googling for some information on whether his velocity has gone up since he was drafted, because I seem to remember a report during the 2009 season that was sitting somewhere in the 90s, but his draft reports state high 80s with projectability. Couldn’t find anything… anybody seen him lately to know?

OT re: Alcides Escobar

I’ve somehow managed to see all the Cubs-Brewers games so far this year, plus a couple other random Brewer games…Escobar, at least when I’ve seen him, has not been as advertised on defense. Tonight especially he was throwing the ball all over the place. He’s hit a bit better than I expected, but for all the hype, I was expecting a bit more with the glove…just some early season jitters so far?

by PrincetonCubs on Apr 24, 2025 1:08 AM EDT reply actions

so much effort

I figured the folks posting here would be the ones to respond…plus ppl have been doing this so far this year on guys currently in the majors..whatevs

by PrincetonCubs on Apr 24, 2025 12:12 PM EDT up reply actions

escobar

i have the opposite opinion on his D. he has a extremely slick glove, sick range and a great arm. i bet he smooths out his throws, for the most part he has been alright though. if the brewers can make a solid fielder out of weeks, something i thought would never happen, escobar should be able to make adjustments.

by FRANCHISEv2 on Apr 24, 2025 3:57 PM EDT up reply actions

This is the perfect place to put it

These posts are really just daily conversations and he’s been debated for a long time. There is a core of people who think he is nothing much. I remember when there was hot and heavy debate over Escobar versus Andrus and the consensus was that because of the lack of HRs and BBs, Andrus is better.

by JetSam on Apr 25, 2025 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Escobar's plate discipline numbers are encouraging

Obviously it’s still a small sample, but considering his reputation as a hacker, his O-swing % has been great. 4/4 K/BB ratio so far.

Domingo Santana

1/5, 2 BB, 2 K, walk-off HR in the 14th

for the season, he’s at at .250/.423/.450 with 2 HRs and 17 K/9 BB…obv. needs to work on the Ks, but showing great patience and power for a 17 yr-old in full season ball…the next Mike Stanton, perhaps?
