Super tools, good approach and understanding of the strikezone, raw b/c he won a football title in college, suprisingly polished when he was voted best player in the college world series.
He’s getting underrated the same way Gordon Beckham was…

these community lists are tough
because i definitely feel you. Mitchell shouldn’t be any lower than this… he’s higher on my own list, but I have Lyles even higher than him… so its a constant ‘do i give up on the one guy being where he’s supposed to be to try to help other guys be where i think they should be?’

I feel the same way about Lyles and Scheppers...
but at this point, Im just going to vote my highest guy and not worry about it. Early on I did try to vote some lesser of two evils…

Polish?
I think you are giving him too much credit there. Admittedly, we don’t have much of a pro sample to go on, but his numbers were not overwhelming. A strikeout percentage of almost 35 percent, a need to improve his base stealing instincts, and a large gap between raw and present power. He’s a good prospect, but he is a top 85-125 type prospect for me.

The K rate
It doesn’t bother me that much because he also had a walk rate of 16.5%. I think Mitchell should be on soon and I would have voted for him if Dominguez weren’t on the poll.

He's only played 34 games as a pro, Little early to start breaking down his components as rates.
After a full season of college ball, including a run to the college world series (which is were he looked polished to me, albeit with metal bats - but he has plus power proejction anyway).

What you fail to understand in your joyless myopia is that baseball is the key to life-- the Rosetta Stone, if you will. If you just understood baseball better all your other questions your, your... the, uh... the aliens, the conspiracies they would all, in their way be answered by the baseball gods.

The problem isn't people recc'ing them
it’s those same people not going back after a poll is closed and unrecc’ing it. The current poll should be up in the Recommended area to make voting easier, but once a new poll is created whoever recc’ed it needs to go back and unrecc all previous polls.

J. Castro
At some point, readiness and a solid floor should win out, and Castro is that. The ceiling’s not great, but he looks like he should be a solid big league catcher. That’s gotta mean something.
I can’t vote for Arrieta when I think Zach Britton is better, and I can’t vote for Britton here when I don’t think he has the ceiling to justify it. Love Arodys, like Ethan, but both are too far away for me to give them the edge over J. Castro even if their ceilings seem far better. I like Will Myers, but Castro is just so much safer. Not ready to vote for guys like Vitters/Moustakas/Dominguez just yet. I think this is about 10 spots too high for Jared Mitchell. Like him a lot, but I want to see where he is defensively and what he is offensively first. There’s a few positional players in the tester pool/“discard” group that I would take over him. I’m getting close to voting for Lyles, but when I envision the Astros system, I have Castro ahead.
The one listed that made me pause was Tanner Scheppers. I’m really not sure what to think there, but I prefer J. Castro.

Britton/Arrieta
I really have a hard time understanding why people like Britton over Arrieta. Let’s see what Britton does in AA before we start putting him ahead of guy who profiles as potential #2/3 SP or a closer, depending on how his 3rd pitch shakes out. I’m curious to hear your reasoning here if you don’t mind.

Castro's ceiling ain't too shabby either...
He could be .370 OBP and .430 SLG guy annually. I think everyone is overreacting to Castro’s lack of power—In only half a season of AA!—He has the potential to hit for more than that. Plus, he’s potentially a top 5 defensive catcher. That ceiling “ain’t too shabby.” Especially when you take into account how high is floor is: .350 OBP - .370 SLG% - top 10 defensive catcher?
