Wow, I didn't realize Martin Perez fell that far on the pitching list
I have him a few spots ahead of Monty/Lamb/Taillon

I think the expectations were set so high on him and eople forget he was ONLY 19 yrs old pitching in Double A in the Texas League!

Yeah
I mean, obviously ARL isn’t nearly as important for pitchers as it is for hitters, but people seem to be docking Perez too much based on the numbers. Here is something I posted back on Pitching Prospect #5:
Before we get into the numbers, I want to point something out:
Martin Perez born 4/4/91
Shelby Miller born 10/10/90
Jameson Taillon born 11/18/91
Jacob Turner born 5/21/91
Perez is 6 months younger than Miller, a month older than Turner and 7 months older than Taillon. Does anyone think these guys would have fared better in AA last year(or next year for Taillon) than Perez did? I know, Perez had a good bit of pro experience coming into this year. It just seems people are putting to much stock in the numbers here and overlooking the talent. He and Miller are the next two on my list(#14 and #15 on my overall list as of now), but it seems like Perez has dropped further on other people’s lists.
I don’t know if it’s SNTS or too much focus on the numbers or what, but I think if Perez had gone to the Cal League and pitched well he would have been ranked much higher. Instead the Rangers skipped him ahead to AA against more advanced hitters and he scuffled a bit.

I think it's about the numbers
And it’s also really strange to me that Casey Kelly hasn’t even made the pitching list yet.

I don't find that one odd really
Plenty of people here questioned Casey Kelly last year, saying he had #3 upside and was a product of a Boston hype machine or something or other. Add that to his poor numbers, I can see why people wouldn’t be voting for him.
I still like him, he’s a B+ for me but there are still a few pitchers I’d take over him.

On the other hand
I don’t understand the love for Perez at all. Sure, he’s young, but a lack of command is a lack of command, no matter what level he’s pitching at.

I voted for Machado
but would have had Perez over several of the pitchers who already emerged on this list.
