rank these young prospects

carlos perez-sp atl

adys portillo

luke jackson

adrian salcedo

carlos perez- c tor

adonis cardona

garin cecchini

the trick here is these guys all have limited stats to look at. i honestly cannot decide which of these to choose to my minors draft. i amleaning towards carlos perez for atl. but just cant commit to it. i am a rangers homer is why i like jackson, but im not sure where he stands in terms of future potential compared to these other guys. i am looking for high ceiling players that will be available at the tail end of my draft

I’d go

C Perez, Tor
Cecchini
Salcedo
Portillo
C Perez, Atl
Cardona
Jackson

Given Cecchini’s position, I like him quite a bit in comparison to the rest of these guys. Carlos Perez would be second.

this

with Perez (TOR) switched with Cecchini

If everybody likes you, then either no one knows anything about you, or you're dead.

+1

I’m happy with either Cecchini or Perez-C at #2, with the other at #3.

Yup.

Those 3 are the standouts. Hard to pick between them to some degree.

Might swap Salcedo down below Jackson… but those next three are pretty interchangeable, as well.

where would u put esteilon peguero

i know he hasnt played yet

Peguero

I would rank him 1st out of that group for fantasy, unknown ability, but…the only guy mentioned that next year could have enormous value

Huh?

Isn’t he 16 years old?

If you’re talking about being the highest regarded next year, I think Carlos Perez (ATL) has the most upside.

I don’t really see the argument for Cecchini over Perez(catcher). The only thing missing in Perez is plus power. You can’t really ding him for being in short season in 2010, the Jays system is pretty loaded with catchers. He hits for average, controls the strike zone, throws out runners at a good clip, by all accounts it good receiver and is athletic enough to handle second or third base.

I also concede that this won’t go anywhere since Cecchini is all scouting reports and no pro data.

ok, another name to throw in the mix

what about jeurys familia. i know he had a down year but people are still pretty high on him. i figured he was drafted last year, but found he had not been, so thats a name i am considering as well. these rankings are tricky, because most of the names i mentioned have had little to no true experience, so this is where knowledge of scouting reports come into play. i missed out on profar last year, and that with me being a rangers homer, and id like to avoid making that kind of mistake again
