Voting A-Jax here to try to get him on. REally would like to vote for Hosmer and Sano, too, to keep them on the poll. Both belong somewhere in the top 100, IMO.

What you fail to understand in your joyless myopia is that baseball is the key to life-- the Rosetta Stone, if you will. If you just understood baseball better all your other questions your, your... the, uh... the aliens, the conspiracies they would all, in their way be answered by the baseball gods.

Adeiny Hechevarria
Yadi is my hero
by Big Phil on Mar 25, 2026 8:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Cuban shortstop
Signed by the Blue Jays. 19 or 20, big, athletic kid who is supposedly solid offensively and defensively.
by toonsterwu on Mar 26, 2025 1:27 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i believe that some folks have said that he is better
than jose iglesias overall.
by toonsterwu on Mar 26, 2025 1:27 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
interesting
i honestly thought phil was being a smartass and just making up a name. i guess i missed the announcement/boat on adeiny

He...
got a bigger bonus than Iglesias and is said to have a good deal more offensive potential.

Iglesias is supposedly elite defensively
I’d take him pretty quickly over Hechevarria
by jar75 on Mar 26, 2025 8:57 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i honestly don't know anything outside of what is online
but there were reports that Adeiny’s defense was really, really good, and he’s supposed to have far, far better offensive potential.
by toonsterwu on Mar 26, 2025 1:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I know very little about him
I’d just side with the guy that has impressed since coming over. Callis went on a couple of rants about he wishes that he put Iglesias in his top 100.
by jar75 on Mar 26, 2025 2:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Adeiny pushed Iglesias over to 2B when they played on the juniors national team. Unclear how much it means. One cuban baseball website stateside took this to mean Hechevarria is the better defender. I find that very unlikely. It also appears that Hechevarria has a worse hit tool and more contact issues than Iglesias but much more power potential. Obviously, not a whole lot of info is available.

Hechevarria is reportedly more athletic (not nec. better range though) and has a slightly stronger arm
but isn’t quite in Iglesias’ class defensively.
Hechevarria did get more money than Iglesias and looks like an excellent prospect. Theyd both make my top 100 if I was doing it today. Iglesias barely made it before, but he would be moving up a good bit and I’d fit Hechevarria in the 80-100 range. Very interested to see what he can do.
Also, the Yanks offered Hechevarria more money than Toronto (per George King), but he apparently didn’t want to have to wait for Jeter to retire or deal with that whole bag of problems (like replacing Jeter).
