Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Minor League Ball Gameday discussion thread for Friday, August 12th. Here are some items worthy of your attention and discussion as we head into the weekend.

****Colorado Rockies catching prospect Tom Murphy went 2-for-4 yesterday for Triple-A Albuquerque, scoring two runs against Las Vegas. He's been hot lately, hitting .417 with nine RBI over his last 10 games, and stands at .316/.348/.650 on the season. At age 25 he doesn't have much left to prove in the minors.

****Six shutout innings last night for Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Sean Newcomb, He fanned eight. He's made 23 starts for Double-A Mississippi this year, posting a 4.04 ERA with a 126/63 K/BB in 118 innings, 98 hits allowed. Newcomb's profile hasn't changed much over the year: he's got plenty of stuff and can be overpowering but will have to get the walks down as he moves up.

****At Beyond the Boxscore, Nicolas Stellini looks at the career of Alex Rodriguez and wonders if he'll get into the Hall of Fame.

****At Fangraphs, Marc Hulet looks at the current prospect stock of Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller, Oakland Athletics shortstop prospect Richie Martin, and Seattle Mariners shortstop prospect Christopher Torres.
