Here's the link to MOD #1:
Slots we're drafting:
1/14: $2,613,200
2/52: $1,066,900
3/87: $622,300
4/118: $440,600
1st Round Hitters We Like: Max Pentecost, Trea Turner, Bradley Zimmer, Michael Chavis, Monte Harrison
1st Round Pitchers We Like: Touki Touissant, Grant Holmes, Sean Reid-Foley as the 3 HS notables, Brandon Finnegan, Sean Newcomb and Kyle Freeland as the 3 college lefties, Aaron Nola as the safe college righty, keeping Spencer Adams as the dark horse HS riser.
We're assuming a top 5 of Brady Aiken, Tyler Kolek, Carlos Rodon, Alex Jackson, Nick Gordon - or not dropping out of a top 10. We are also saying no thanks to TJ pitchers Jeff Hoffman and Erick Fedde.
We've ruled out the following: Tyler Beede, Michael Conforto, Kodi Medeiros, Scott Blewett, Luke Weaver, Jacob Gatewood, Luis Ortiz, Michael Gettys, Braxton Davidson as first round choices.
2nd Round Targets: Matt Railey, Justin Smith, Marcus Wilson are some HS toolsy OFs and a underrated SS in Alexis Pantojas. College pitchers include Jake Cosart, Jake Stinnett, Chris Ellis. HS pitchers include Garrett Fulenchek, Keith Weisenberg, Cody Reed, Jake Godfrey and Keaton McKinney. College hitters: Alex Blandino, Taylor Sparks, Brian Anderson and Aramis Garcia.
3rd and 4th Round Targets: Will be fleshed out here.
Questions: How do we rank the college lefties in the 1st round? Where is the biggest impact for the 1st round? Who are the most dynamic players? Where is the safety, the safe picks? Are we comfortable going with hitting if the pitchers available don't appeal?
Instead of playing it cagey, the way the Giants will, I like outlining a plan that others can see. But no set guarantees we'll stick exactly to plan.
Finally, playing the Moneyball game - are there players we can get for 10% that will give us 90% production further down the draft? We've identified a fair amount of pitching talent that might be 90% of the first round guys hype, for example. What picks will there be that will be gone baby gone, unique in the draft?
